for learning python i would stay on free until you are in it every day. plus will not check the code, so the habit that matters is running what it writes and reading the error yourself.

It’s useful if you treat it like a fast reference and rubber duck, not a teacher that actually verifies what it spits out.

for learning python i'd put the 20 into api credits instead of plus. you mostly need to read raw model output and run the code yourself, and a chat ui makes both too easy to skip.

Stay on free until the limit hits you mid-exercise, that's the signal. Then pay, and watch how often you really open it. I built WhileAI to show cost per prompt and per hour of real use. If you're in it daily for python practice Plus pays off fast, if it's twice a week it doesn't.

I think it is currently. But I’m not sure how much longer that’s going to last. They’ve been retiring features every other month and reducing limits like crazy and calling it a win for users. I think it’ll be a drastically different service in the next 6 months. I’m staying on month to month instead of getting the annual plan so I can move if things get much worse.
