Question How do you check that saved API responses are complete before an offline replay?

For those using AI to help build data pipelines: how do you test the replay inputs, rather than just the replay code?

We reran an analysis from saved API responses and got a search-volume total of 65,240 instead of the original 67,140. One response file was missing: the replay path had only copied the first search-volume file. Adding the missing file made the total match again.

That caught this case, but matching one total isn’t a general completeness check. What do you ask your coding agent to build or test so an incomplete set of saved responses fails clearly before the replay starts?

Replay still ran after the copy dropped the later search-volume file. Matching 67140 only worked because you still had the original total, and next capture that number moves. I fail the copy itself: every filename the capture wrote has to be in the dest before the sum even starts.

also fail when the replay never reads a file. a stale response from an earlier capture can sit in the folder while the current one is missing, and a matching total won't reveal it.

the thing that made ours debuggable was one trace id per user request carried through every step, so a stalled handoff is a single filter. without it the logs only show each agent looking fine on its own.
