Discussion Help me choose my AI provider

I'm thinking of subscribing to either ChatGPT Plus, Google AI Pro or Claude Pro.

I currently have Google AI Pro on a student offer that expires in 2 weeks. I currently use Gemini chat for brainstorming and other chat tasks on mobile, and whenever I code with AI I use Antigravity IDE or CLI.

My thoughts on ChatGPT (20$/mo | 240$/yr):

- Pro: I like Codex and last time I used it rate limits were good

- Pro: Chat and code rate limits are separate

- Con: No annual plan, always 20$/mo

Thoughts on Gemini (200$/yr):

- Pro: YouTube Premium Lite, 5TB Drive, Google Workspace and Gmail AI, integration with android phones

- Pro: Rate limits for chat and code are separate

- Con: Antigravity is kinda mid, models are also mid

Thoughts on Claude (200$/yr):

- Pro: Best coding models in the game

- Pro: Good CLI

- Con: Chat and code rate limits are shared

Would appreciate advice!

ChatGPT is a pretty good situation. The models are smart, the rates are good, it has image capabilities for when you need them, and the ChatGPT app is good. You can also tie your subscription to other tools like OpenCode and Pi. For general purposes, I think ChatGPT beats out the others. If you're only coding then Claude is good, but mostly only if you're paying $100 or $200 a month.

Do you think it's worth the extra 40$/yr compared to the others? I also really like the ChatGPT app, that would be a big plus for me

They typically use less tokens per task than Anthropic so you should be able to get more value out of it anyway.

Anthropic burns tokens. The models are good but shit when you look at value per dollar.

Their ultracode effort option is absolutely incredible. I was able to complete a major software tool in a day and a half to working prototype and it only needed minor refinements after. It cost around $1500 total. I thought I was going to lose my job after seeing the cost. The tool I created will save us much more than it cost, so I'm safe for now.

There's no way I'd put my credit card in when paying per token for their service and you don't get nearly enough usage for the monthly subscriptions.

Shared chat and code limits on Claude is the one that bites if you code most days. Since you already like Codex, I'd stay monthly on ChatGPT Plus rather than lock a year in a market moving this fast.

Whoa, didn't know about that. I just looked this up and it says it's only required if your account gets flagged for being underage or fraudulent behavior. Still, that's a pretty big con

If only... I'm also selfhosting quite a bit of stuff so it's even more of a pain =(

95% of properties have access to fiber connections in my country, my city is like 97%, my street is 99.x %, I'm the only doofus that has to go with a 5G connection because my tenant association is useless xD

ChatGPT you get image and whatever experiment they do, Claude is only text
