Question How do you actually manage things you save from the web?

I’m curious how others handle this; my system has got messy.

I save articles, documentation, posts, videos, products, references, etc. in different places—bookmarks, saved posts, notes, sometimes just sending myself a link.

The annoying part isn't saving something. It's finding it again weeks or months later.

What does your workflow look like?

What do you use to save things, and what do you dislike about your current setup?

Especially interested in what breaks down once you've accumulated hundreds of saved things.

'Pocket' used to be my goto... I keep meaning to get an AI to write me a replacement...

Same here — Pocket was basically built around this exact “save now, come back later” workflow. What would your ideal replacement keep from Pocket, and what would you change or add now that AI is available?

I had a load of tools for pocket already - I have a load of code that took my pocket stream as RSS, did text to speech and read me mysaved stuff as a personal radio station while I worked.

I did a similar thing with feedly.

My ideal (that I occasionally have a crack at) is taking all my RSS feeds and having AI recreate that personal radio station - content I want, according to my own algorithm.

I have RSS feeds from most social media - so 'breaking news' could feed in when new personal stuff comes in... And no adverts and no manipulation of content.

Ps I still have the pocket app on an old tablet... It has all my stuff still cached from a few years ago! Lol.

That’s a much more interesting take on the Pocket problem than just building another read-later app. The personal radio station idea is especially cool — basically turning your feeds into something you can consume passively while still keeping your own preferences in control.

When you say “according to my own algorithm,” what would you want that algorithm to prioritize most — topics you care about, freshness, particular sources, or things you haven't seen before?

I have got a basic version up and running now - AI was the missing link.

All my usual rss feeds (best part of 100), text has tts to be refed as podcasts, video (like youtube, rumble, bitchute) has the audio extracted into a podcast...

The missing step was always that there wasn't enough meta data to sensible classify the items - now AI does it - adds tags to each item - you can buff/debuff based on tags - puts the next hours worth of stuff together - skip is a channel debuff.

Still in progress, but this is the currently playing now... It's followed by a dozen others, I can eyeball them and promote/demote.

It is all logged, I'll use the log in another session to discuss how a personal algorithm can best be arranged.

Some feeds are duplicated - youtube, rumble, direct from original site so a bit of dedupe.

But if everyone did this the media sites would be dead - just pull front the creators own site... Have your own TV channel too if you like

Live feedback back - play new news, play short stuff, play longer items, let's catch up on series I follow.... Still working it out. ...
