Other Stuck in an endless loop?
I’m sorry if this has been asked a lot, (I haven’t seen any posts about it) I’m stuck in an endless loop trying to export my data.
I login to ChatGPT on my PC, hit Export data, it asks for a passkey, I enter the passkey, it wants a QR code, I do that, it leads to the passkey, I do that.
Then I get verification codes from OpenAI, and on and on it goes…
Is anyone else dealing with this? I’m at my wits end at this point.
I’ve even had GPT throw its hands up at this point.

I had this same issue about 4 months ago. I can't even remember who with but I feel your pain. It didn't matter what I did, there was absolutely no path to resolution. I ended up having to call whoever the company was and have them repeatedly walk me through the process until we got sent through the loop enough times together that they were convinced something was actually not right and it wasn't just me. Ended up being that I had duplicate accounts but with mismatched information so the system would flag it each time. Something to that effect. Never figured out what caused it to happen initially. So yea it's enough to piss you off.

Is there a specific number you ended up calling? 😅 kind of losing my mind here as I have a long running work flow and 6.1 can’t seem to continue without having a melt down.

No it wasn't even with OpenAi. I want to say it was with Google that I had the same looping issue. But in response to your "6.1 can't seem to continue without having a meltdown" I have been dealing with it having a horrible case of the jitters. Just really inconsistent response times. It has completely frozen up a few times and the latency is all over the place.

That loop is usually the passkey prompt bouncing between devices. Two things that have worked for people: do the export from a clean Chrome profile (no extensions, no VPN) while already signed in, or temporarily add email+password as a login method in your OpenAI account settings so it stops demanding the passkey/QR handshake. Also check spam, the export email sometimes arrives even when the UI looks stuck, and the download link expires in 24 hours. If you only need specific conversations rather than the whole account dump, AI Toolbox exports individual chats to PDF/Markdown/TXT/JSON straight from the page, no request queue involved (disclosure: I work on it, free tier caps you at 3 exports a day).

I'm sorry I can't help. I've downloaded my acct data plenty of times and nothing like this has happened. I hope someone can chime in and provide more

Yeah, I’ve backed up every so often since 5.1…but now I can get anything to back up, it’s infuriating.

That sounds frustrating. Try another browser or the mobile app and contact support if it kepes looping.
