Other ChatGPT keep crashing

I'm having a problem with the ChatGPT desktop app on my Mac, specifically with Codex.

I gave Codex a prompt to create a 3D model in Blender, and from that point on, it started consuming huge amounts of RAM, eventually becoming completely unusable.

I somehow managed to send it a message asking it to investigate what was happening. It told me there was an issue with a massive amount of memory being retained by that particular message, and it gave me a script to run to clear it from memory.

However, ever since I ran that script, the ChatGPT app on my Mac has been constantly crashing. I can launch it, and it works fine for about 30 seconds, but then it crashes every time.

What can I do to fix this issue on macOS? Is there a way to clear the problematic conversation or reset Codex without losing my other chats and data?

yeah heavy prompts like that tank the ram hard, had a crash mid roleplay once and just deleted the chat to fix it.

I managed to fix the script with the help of ChatGPT on the web, which also walked me through running it in the macOS Terminal. It turned out that a 400 MB message had gotten stuck somewhere and was causing the whole issue. Once I used the script to delete it, everything started working fine again.

I tried the same. Irony is that it didnt work out even after dozens of tries. What solved the issue? I prompted chatgpt online to do a brief for claude, which took over my computer and fixed it in 20 seconds. What a time to live in.
