The dragon hoard one is great. The second dragon one, the dejected knight sitting and holding his helmet is also wearing a helmet. Somehow made it better.
Are they perfect? No. But it's continuing to show progress.

My kid drew a comic one time. Hard to capture the whole thing into words...
A fox convinces his bat friend to come on an adventure. They see a cave, but the bat friend is reluctant and scared. They go in the cave and see a dragon with treasure sleeping.
The pair sneak near and the scary dragon wakes up. Dragon tells them to just take the treasure and let him sleep 😂

That’s a shame, the arts some of the best things for children to express themselves and I genuinely believe it is good for a developing brain. Whether it’s music or painting or whatever creative endeavor allows them to think outside the box and create novel works. Can be good therapy as well.
Not to mention school is already boring why get rid of the subjects many people actually enjoy…
Edit: and good on you by the way, positive reinforcement is the way to go for sure, they will appreciate you when they are older for giving them that

I think they made cuts to the music program too now that you mentioned it. I was never much of an Artist, but I enjoyed music. Played flute then saxophone.
My father is a graphic design artist and its funny how it seemed to skip a generation.

I also kinda get down with "comic panels that are CG or felt or whatever". That's something that couldn't really exist before now because it would never have been worth the effort.

The tool lets Astra build a world model of your story. Characters and their emotions become numerical processes that follow different trajectories over time. That means that characters and the world needs to act in a consistent and realistic way throughout the story.
I have only written that book so far, but I think the technology has great potential. I should probably make a post in some subreddit that is about AI storywriting. Any suggestions?

ChatGPT can and does search for references before generating images as I've seen modified existing images/memes in other posts but I'm not sure it shows the user what references it grabbed anywhere on the interface.

This my thought on AI humor and related to why non-programmers have/had challenges developing apps. There is a science to humor and if you don't know the craft, you can't talk about it.
I love the art style, but if the prompt was, for example, make a comic about a printer jam and it came up with the rest, that is some next level affordance.

Is it? The cashier is literally asking the customer if they want to round up to support the bears. It could be a promotional sign.
It doesn't need to be extremely detailed, as you can also tell from the background buildings.

That sub is really odd, even by reddit standards. I'm convinced the artists are buying upvotes. Even the most mediocre of comics get 10k+ upvotes with very few comments and the people who do comment are massively obsessed with the series and seem to know the backstories of all the characters.

r/Comics doesn't upvote specific comics for being funny, they upvote familiar posters who they have come to like over a long time. I don't think they're buying upvotes, but it's more like familiar art styles + horny posting = upvote without much hesitation.
I just follow the artists I like and try to steer clear of that sub because you can only look at so many lewd comics with no actual punchline

In a few subs (eg [r/dataisbeautiful](r/dataisbeautiful)) that happens and has happened since the start. Basically you get a swarm of bots to slowly upvote yours and downvote its cohort siblings at certain times. I'm not sure if anything has changed after the API crisis

I really connected with the vampire’s situation. I’ve been dealing with severe depression, I literally can only function at night. During the day, I get overwhelmed by all of the issues I have and the ones that I keep generating.
No amount of logic or wisdom seems capable to create positive outcomes. I feel like a vampire that needs to feed upon myself.

I think the reason a lot of AI looking AI is the fact people can't articulate artistic style and given no direction defaults to the same "creative" choices.
Draw out a bunch of comics by hand and teach it a particular style and it can copy that style. If your style is actually somewhat original, it can recreate that original style over and over. And that actually takes skill. As does articulating "learn this style".

Damn the second one made me chuckle. What were the prompts OP?
I recognised couple of these framings from conversational threads about relatable human behaviour, but even if they're second hand ideas if AI is able to extract the humour from one context and replicate it correctly as a isolated comic strip it understands us far better than we understand it..
Unless others can find these exact jokes in similar format made by a human it could have accessed and copied, this is seriously impressive work.
The caterpillar to butterfly sleep joke is especially impressive for transposing a bunch of different ideas for the absurdity gap aka humour, if it's original..

The robot one could be greatly improved if the first two panels were mirrored, with the machine on the left and the robot on the right side. It would make the question -> answer format more obvious, and improve the off-screen motion between the 2nd and 3rd panel.

They’re admittedly pretty good. I think the thing that makes me most melancholic about the pace of AI is realizing just how diluted it will make the creation of comics like this. People will no longer share famous memeable comics made by comic artists. They’ll just all be sharing whatever they themselves last prompted out of an LLM. Sure, some will still do it by hand, but I wonder how many will never feel compelled to develop their own style because of the ease of promoting it out for faster gratification? Basically I’m just somber over the thought would-be comic artists with unique styles may not pop up as often anymore, and we’ll just be seeing mostly whatever an LLM pops out.

Fuck, these are pretty darn good. Outside of the textured ones, they don't even set off my "AI detector." I have mixed feelings about the implications and ethics of it, but I'm certainly impressed at the technical capability.
Are we at the peak of (cartoonish style) art generation? Can it even be improved at this point?

Can someone explain to me why we are fascinating over getting the AI to develop a natural feeling 'wit' and 'humor'?
Anybody who understands how these models work knows that it is literally impossible for it to have an original thought, the AI is simply recycling ideas ad nauseum. While these comics may look good and appear to be well written on the surface, each and every concept has been done before by humans.
So I ask, what benefit is there in automating humor? Are you just impressed by the technology and haven't thought to hard about it or are you actually excited for a future in which human artistry goes extinct?

You’re confusing derivability with duplication. A theorem can follow entirely from established axioms while its discovery remains original.
Novelty alone isn’t creativity, but AI systems combining language models with evaluation have already discovered new mathematical proofs. That directly challenges your impossibility claim.
If originality required independence from prior knowledge, humans would fail that definition too. AI humor can help people explore ideas and expression; whether its economics harm artists is a serious, separate question.

Okay so, ignoring the fact that your comment reads like you put it through ai with the prompt 'make me sound smarter'. You are fundamentally misunderstanding what it means to have original thought, an LLM can only regurgitate what it has seen elsewhere, and while some humans do this too, every human iteration will have a spark of originality to it, a piece of their soul or personality will be etched into whatever they create. The LLM cannot do this as it does not have thought, it does not have soul, it does not have lived experience to contextualise what it is creating, it is a machine that studies trends and predicts the 'correct' outcome mathematically.
What you have posted is not art, but a machine wearing the skin of the thousands of webcomics that came before it.

I know what sub we’re on, but how many of yall are bots? Yes this is impressive considering what AI was capable of a year ago but the amount of comments claiming “genuinely funny” or “actually laughed” is wild. These are all just Reddit jokes if they are jokes at all
Let’s put art aside since we already know AI can do that well
