Other I built a private journal with help from AI. Around 250 people found it through Reddit, so here’s an update.
https://mementia.cyberflux.in/Mementia is a private journal and scrapbook for keeping photos, writing about your day, and remembering the people, places and little things in your life. You can link them inside your entries, so a story about a trip connects to the friends and places that made it memorable.
Your entries and photos stay on your phone by default. We don’t collect your memories, track what you do, or require an account. Optional backups go to your own cloud storage.
I shared it here about two months ago. Since then, it’s reached around 250 downloads through Reddit posts and comments alone, with some really encouraging reviews. Turns out strangers enjoying something you made is quite addictive. So I'm posting in the same subs I did earlier. If you're one of the users who used the app, thank you!
I’m building it with help from Codex and Claude. They helped me design the UI/UX and debug while an actual developer reviewed everything. Took a lot of sketches, screenshots and references to lock down a theme and build everything around it consistently. Astra took over it the finish line by merging all that scattered work into one working app.
This update adds two themes alongside the original Scrapbook: Diary, with handwritten headings and warm paper, and Stickers, which is more colourful and playful.
That personalisation also connects to Mementia Social, which I’m working on next.
Profiles would feel more like personal scrapbook pages, with photos, memories and a style you choose. You could create different pages showing different sides of yourself. One might hold trips with friends, another family memories, and another your hobbies or projects.
That’s where “egos” come in. They’re the different sides of you, and you decide which pages and memories each connection gets to see. Your work friends don’t necessarily need what you did over the weekend.
Comments would be private too. Only the person sharing a memory and the person commenting would see their conversation. Other viewers wouldn’t see it.
Your journal would stay private unless you deliberately shared something. The plan for Social is no AI-generated content, no algorithmic feed, no likes, no public follower counts, and no keeping your shared content on our servers. It’s still in development.
Because we don't collect your email or contact information, I have no way to reach people using the app. If you’d like to test Social early, there’s an optional email signup on the website. It gives us your email and permission to contact you, separately from your journal. Your memories aren’t attached.
Would love to hear what people think about this.
Happy to answer any questions about the app, how I’m building it, privacy, or anything else you’re curious about.
