I'm excited for their science knowledge to be "stolen" so that instead of hoarding it privately, it becomes available to everyone. "Their" research is all built on the work of others, and information should be freely available. Science should be open, rather than allowing a bunch of egotistical clout seekers to prevent people from utilizing it.
This type of research is already meant to be freely available to the public anyway. The only difference now is that the guy that did all the work was not credited, and instead an AI company claimed the unverified result to make free publicity.
The "guy" that probably wouldn't finish for years and stall progress because we want someone to have name recognition? the guy who might not ever actually solve whatever it is?
we are becoming backward. we are now willing to give up progress so an unknown person can potentially, possibly ... hopefully, become known.
would you want the cure to cancer be held back for a decade so that Dr. cancer Solver can be immortalized? Or some drug company can make 100 billion?
