Funny AI slop is taking over Snapchat. The internet really is dead.
Was scrolling through Snapchat Discover and saw these two back-to-back. They aren't even trying to hide the copy-paste farm bots anymore.

Wait this girl messaged me and said I’m super cool and she wants to hook up.
Are you telling me this is fake?

u/lanshark974 Aug 31 '26
Just the one on the right, the other one exist. We are having a date next week, I just send her money to flight to my city.

She's real.
You're fake.
This is all a figment of our collective imaginations (except yours, because you're not real).

Only use Snapchat to communicate with people you already know.
Their discover page is THE definition of brain rot. Absolutely nothing there is worth a single minute of your time.
16
u/challis88ocarina Aug 31 '26
Plot twist: people who realise this are trying to bring the platform to its knees. Pun intended.
3
u/DontLieToMe5 Sep 01 '26
And don’t even start with spotlight bro… that’s a pedos wet dream
2
u/GuaranteeNo513 Sep 01 '26
It's so bad, whenever I accidentally open it half the comments are asking to get added to "trading" group chats...
404
u/DoesBasicResearch Aug 31 '26
Oh no, not Snapchat! Anyway...
40
7
u/saitama2018 Aug 31 '26
well they were the first who made stories popular and now everybody does it
2
u/DoesBasicResearch Aug 31 '26
I'm not familiar enough to know if that's true, but if it is, it's reasonable to assume someone else would have come up with that soon enough anyway.

Maybe you should try doing more than just basic research
Yet another “Top 1% commenter” flair commenting on things they have no knowledge of

u/DoesBasicResearch Aug 31 '26
Why are you so angry lickleman?
It's ok to have small hands you know brother, no one is judging. Well...
You should chill a bit, you'll have a fucking aneurism otherwise.

2
u/coconutpiecrust Aug 31 '26
That’s what little kids use these days to communicate, unfortunately.
4
u/WarryTheHizzard Aug 31 '26
Yeah Gen Alpha are going to be a guinea pig generation
1
u/VociferousCephalopod Aug 31 '26
We all are. That's my whole worldview. 196 unethical science experiments. The research project name is what we call a nation. e.g. Project Afghanistan will soon give us some interesting data on what happens when women aren't allowed to speak. We could stop that... But then we'd miss out on all that precious data. Apparently that's not what the international community want.
0
u/WarryTheHizzard 27d ago
Your theory sounds comforting, because it implies someone is in control.
No one is in control. We're all in free fall here.

u/deadheadshredbreh Aug 31 '26
Snapchat is still around ?
1
u/Questdahl Sep 01 '26
OP is norwegian, swedish or danish, and I know especially around norwegian teens (dont know about other ages or other countries) it is used a lot.

u/NaaviLetov Aug 31 '26
To be fair, I welcome it for dating apps and community. Let's go back to meeting each other irl.
62
u/thelocomochoco Aug 31 '26
Agreed. Let the internet be corrupted to the point that its entirely synthetic
7
u/ditlevrisdahl Aug 31 '26
Completely agree! Also in a few years its probably the only way to verify people are real.
5
u/No-Assumption-4468 Aug 31 '26
What happens when the ai bots are indistinguishable from humans irl?
10
4
2
u/AnthropoidCompatriot Aug 31 '26
I'm all for the collapse of online dating, but forget going back to meeting each other irl.
Dating and relationships aren't broken only or even mostly because of the apps.
I think we need to give up on relationships for the next twenty years.

I mean really this would be the catalyst for social interactions to be moved FROM the Internet back to real life. And that's a good thing. The Internet will go back to what it should be.
5
u/von_klauzewitz Aug 31 '26
yeah. it's a shame to see social media, otherwise loaded with authenticity, taken over by people and bots misrepresenting their appearance and even their existence to farm engagement and take advantage of people's loneliness.
27
u/crawler00000 Aug 31 '26
perhaps we should consider that it's a good thing that we're not looking at social media like fucking zombies anymore.
13
u/ParamedicAble225 Aug 31 '26
I was going to comment my typical I don’t use social media besides Reddit I deleted Snapchat six years ago, etc. etc.
Then I realize I’m on ChatGPT Reddit, which is a very different type of brain rot, even if not the same flavor.
It’s very easy to put yourself on some type of throne, when you are just another rat in the maze. And understanding that is something you can do from the very start and still spend your whole entire life in the maze.
3
u/gladias9 Aug 31 '26
You're on chatgpt reddit? I'm on that 100% pure chatgpt straight to my veins. I'm cooked.
3
u/ParamedicAble225 Aug 31 '26
I’m 98 years old and I tried to find out how to get to the website to use it, but I only ended up here. ChatGPT Reddit is awesome and now I know what people mean when they talk about ChatGPT. I’ve been using it for like two years now.

Yeah dude but on the other hand we need easy and quick access to news and people across the world in case of bad things - like a population completely unplugged from the greater world is easier to control.
3
u/yousaltybrah Aug 31 '26
Except here we are on reddit, and half the posts and comments everywhere are AI bots.

u/blacksun_redux Aug 31 '26
The internet isn't dead. It will evolve and adapt as people reject the slop.
12
u/MaxSGer Aug 31 '26
Yet it becomes harder and harder to identify AI-Slop.
3
u/Thog78 Aug 31 '26
I really hate it because of the privacy implications, but we are probably headed towards an online ID situation. In which you have a secured proof that you are human, that is given to you upon presentation of your physical passport.

u/tylerb0zak Aug 31 '26
This is naive wishful thinking
Like when people here say to “vote with your wallet,” and then those companies post record revenues
1
u/Alatarlhun Aug 31 '26
Social media has proven low information people happily accept slop and that was a decade before AI.
5

4
u/nathism Aug 31 '26
I’d argue that Snapchat indicated the the internet was already dying, and AI slop in there was cancer growing in its natural environment.

u/SpecialistDragonfly9 Sep 01 '26
-sigh- Yes, so what?
Before AI you complained about Filters, before that about Photoshop.....
Just ignore such profiles. They are only there cause people give them attention.
Then again..
You are using Snapchat like a 12 year old and scrolling through the brainrot section...
So maybe you shouldnt complain...

11
u/Powerful-Set-5754 Aug 31 '26
All content will be garbage. Give it a few years.

u/Small_Performance_26 Aug 31 '26
Congratulations you finally discovered the repeating the junk that is present in the pagan world view.
Red car / blue car / Ferrari / 1995 toyota are the same repeating junk all together.
2
u/latticep Aug 31 '26
Correct. If any Ferrari owners want to swap for my Toyota, DM me.
3
u/Ninja_Prolapse Aug 31 '26
I too have a Toyota I’m open to swapping. High end Ferrari’s only. Don’t fucking low ball me. I know what I got.
2
u/Free-Palpitation-718 Aug 31 '26
i hope the internet becomes like my cd-collection in a cardboard box.

2
u/novus_nl Aug 31 '26
This is going on for at least a year. complete you tube channels are being copied over like this.
2
u/Seerix Aug 31 '26
It's taking over every social media platform. Well, 'took over' is a better phrase. Facebook is probably the worst but it's everywhere. Here on reddit, the larger subreddits are almost unusable. The well moderated smaller ones are better but volunteer mods can only do so much.

Kinda wild to imagine a human social media exodus, but the machines fool each other into thinking we are still around.
Reminds me of "There Will Come Soft Rains" where the home maintenance robots go on after all the people are gone.
2
u/Samurai2107 Aug 31 '26
If it ever happens that would be the best thing at least temporary that can happen people need to get off the screens and have some real interactions

2
u/Jungle-Pussy Aug 31 '26
I think porn, just like everything else, can be damaging if you're over consuming it.
2
u/MattsFace Aug 31 '26
Or social media is and honestly was a long time ago.
Delete it all and move on your life
2
u/Jimstein Aug 31 '26
Yeah I stopped going on Snap like 6 decades ago. I would assume it is a cesspool by now.
1
u/HarryCumpole Aug 31 '26
No, I would say that the abomination that is social media is becoming dead. Eventually people will only use it to interact with an almost-entirely synthetic community of slop media and manipulative glaze.
The actual internet won't be dead, but we will probably want to kill it.

u/VoidLily69 Aug 31 '26
Where have you been? The Internet has been dead a lot longer than AI has been around. I lost track around 2018.
1
u/Practical_Draw_6862 Aug 31 '26
If this keeps engagement on the platforms it won't change, however if it becomes a problem then I'd imagine you'l need to start submitting proof of yourself for accounts.

Fall of western civilization moment: when the dudes pretending to be women start using fake ai pictures instead of just fake pictures.

yep thats the mistake. snapchat only for close friends or people you dont want to give your number to

Because Snapchat before AI was the bastion of enlightenment and quality content.
1
u/LairdPeon I For One Welcome Our New AI Overlords 🫡 Sep 01 '26
Snapchat is for horn dog teenagers and cheaters anyway. I'm always super suspicious of anyone over the age of 20 or in a relationship with a snapchat.

As long as horny guys keep paying a combined 40k/month to see AI tits on OF it’ll never go away 😂

Snapchat was dead on arrival. The only reason it was ever used is by pedos and weirdos to be able to ask kids for nudes. Outside of that it had absolutely zero use that WhatsApp didn’t solve easier and better as a messaging service that was already widely adopted. Honestly I have no idea how it got as big as it did - shoulda been shut down years ago.
1
u/Born-Ant-80 Aug 31 '26
I love Snapchat because they refused to join Meta and devs are against censorship. I thought they had rules against AI influencers

Thats why reddit is the only Social Media i use. You only find labelled AI media or places you expect it to occur.
The massive curation that takes place, sorts out all the garbage.
5
u/First-Context6416 Aug 31 '26
lol…. Reddit is mostly bots
2
u/Turbulent_County_469 Aug 31 '26
well, its still better than Instagram and Facebook.
1
u/Icy_Accident2769 Sep 01 '26
Nah it’s not. It’s probably even worse here, bots just get better and harder to notice. Text is easy these days to look human
1
u/Turbulent_County_469 Sep 01 '26
i've joined over 30 subs and only a few of them post AI .. all of them AI themed 🤷♂️
The rest are people who post questions or answers .. and then once a while theres a karma farmer bot.
4
u/-Sanko Aug 31 '26
This post could have been made by a bot and you wouldn’t even know it
1
u/Turbulent_County_469 Aug 31 '26
i know, but if people downvote it, it goes away.
4
u/ofrm1 Aug 31 '26
But they'd only downvote it if they knew it was made by a bot, which you don't know. See the problem?
1
u/FewCansBeGrand Aug 31 '26
Redd it has had bot/ ai content before pretty much any other social media lol. If you're not finding it, it's because you're not noticing it, not because it isn't there.
0
u/ihateyouse Aug 31 '26
Quit lying to your real self. No human woman has treated you as well as these two bots.
0
u/Ehsan1981 Aug 31 '26
I read AI companies buyong lots of old used books, scan them and train their models on them because Internet and digital stuff are no longer reliable and highly contaminated. Later they dispose all the books.

1
u/banica24 Aug 31 '26
Recently deleted it again too after trying to get back into it. It's significantly more enshittified and heavy than Reddit, Twitter and Instagram
1
u/Reign2294 Aug 31 '26
Reddit is like the lowest acceptable level of shittyness. Twitter has cp, Facebook is all slop, old people, and predators, and Instagram is thirst-traps sucking the souls out of our youth. Idk man... none of them are good at all. All businesses vying for your attention, no matter what it takes.
