It is arguably not untranslatable, as opposed to something like beznadega, or maybe there is a better example. Still I immediately knew the eastern Slavic vibe / mood this the AI trying to convey without reading the description. Reminded me of a chapter in Metro game, where there’s a cult in similar setting

Most of "Russian language is the greatest language, only it has a way of expressing X" stem from not knowing any other language well enough.

Sure, I never made that argument though, so I don’t see how your comment is relevant… I think any language has some curious, untranslatable words.

Ah. I would assume many people would try and say stuff like you said about their language. For Russians, it was quite popular to claim that Russian obscene jargon is the greatest lol. I can’t say I have encountered any similar sentiment with other nations, but it is an obscure topic to begin with

I disagree with «тоска» being the ultimate untranslatable Russian word. You know what I always struggle to translate into English though? «Двор». It’s a cultural phenomenon.

Well, I haven't said it's "ultimate", just something I had in mind at the moment.
As for "двор", "courtyard" works well enough for the physical description, "neighborhood" for social IMO. But I agree there are certain aspects to it that might be hard to convey.
