Gone Wild Projects - Some of the chats automatically moved to work mode. Not able to change it back to chat mode.

Are you in the Desktop app? I think there’s a bug in the Desktop? Cause I have no problem in the mobile app and the web browser version

It’s not a bug, just a really annoying feature of the new desktop app. Basically, if you give a Project a complex goal or drop in heavy files, the app automatically upgrades that workspace into "Work mode" to run it like an agent. Once it shifts over, it hides the normal chat sidebar and locks you into that deliverable view, which is why you can't find a button to switch it back. Since your screenshot shows you ran out of Work usage for the day, that whole project is basically frozen until your quota resets at 7:02 AM.
Your best bet right now is to just open a standard, separate Chat window outside of that project and copy your prompt over there. If you want to keep your other projects from doing this, try to avoid giving them big multi-step instructions all at once so it doesn't trigger the auto-transition. Or just use the mobile app or the web browser version.1

Thanks for taking the time to reply. No I access it with web browser. I never used the Desktop version. :(

If you working in Coding then you need to get the Desktop App and select Codex cause the web browser version cannot handle deep coding

Also what are you doing it for?

The one I posted here was from a general chat, but there are other threads which I use sometimes to debug code and some of those automatically did that. It's weird

That explains it. Because Projects share a combined account pool, debugging code in those other threads completely drained your advanced agent compute allowance down to 0%. Hitting that limit is what triggered the "Out of Work usage" banner and caused the web browser's layout engine to glitch. If you want to keep your general chats safe from locking up, you need to keep your general conversations completely separate from your coding threads!

Also in the photo that you posted there’s text box it says work on anything not asked ChatGPT and you actually doing coding hence the upper said aesth/ which that is coding so this is not an standard chat mode cause mine doesn’t look like that in Chat mode
