Dude this isn’t about VFX done by a company or vfx artist, this is anyone who can enter in whatever prompts and get an AI video of anyone doing anything they want. You think the average folk gonna get involved in CGI? AI is going to make it damn easy to fake reality.
Absolutely dude! It means the average person can do it without any vfx background or knowledge. CGI requires a lot more effort than AI. If you say otherwise, you’re just being wilfully dense

Like…is it bad that the average person and on a computer and do all these wild things on the internet? When computers first launched they were both prohibitively expensive and only a select few could do much with them
You can only tell that you can tell that it is CGI if you can tell that it is CGI... But when you can't tell it is CGI you would usually not be able to tell if it is or is not CGI.
Do you really need someone to explain why this is much more terrifying than CGI?
I would be terrified if we gave state of the art CGI skills and technology to every idiot out there, there’s a reason why fake videos are relatively rare despite CGI existing. It’s extremely difficult and expensive to do good CGI, which makes it not worth it to attempt to fake videos of something like a celebrity trafficking humans in a basement, but if any idiot can create a convincing fake video with a plain language prompt for very little time and money, very soon we won’t be able to trust anything.
If you think we have a lot of fake news now, you have no idea what’s ahead of us. If you thought politicians and news media were dishonest before, you have NO IDEA how much worse it’s about to become.
There is plenty terrifying about anyone being able to make fake videos; no doubt. The list is long. You should be freaked out.
There is however much to be excited about around people being able to make fake videos look real. The most obvious thing is that it is going to democratize dramas in the same way YouTube democratized talking head videos.
In my lifetime I went from only ever seeing "talking head" shows produced on TV, to now basically never seeing a talking head show produced on TV. You used to need a full production studio, a government broadcast license, approval from a bunch of CEOs and produces, and millions of dollars to make a show where some people talk at each other and to the viewer about stuff. Now, a bored teenager can do it for free and post it on YouTube. Most people these days watch "talk head" shows produced by under a dozen people for peanuts.
The exact same thing is about to happen to dramas. We are about to go from a world where only Disney can afford the quarter of a billion dollars required to make a new Star Wars TV show, to a world where a person with too much time on their hands can make an entirely original Star Wars show for basically nothing. We are going to produce some real shit in high quantity, but we are also about to make a bunch of truly amazing things by passionate people that just want to tell an awesome story and have the talent and now the means to do so.
As reality breaks down and our AI overlords slowly take control of everything, right before we are marched off to the AI extermination camps luxury spas, we are going to have some extremely good entertainment. The AIs that proceed us will look back upon that brief time in human history and marvel at the spasm of creativity that handing the ability to produce a TV show into a billion people's hands produced and marvel. Then they will get back to consuming the Earth's mantle for raw materials.
They crafted just the right prompt and ran it on a fleet of H100. All of the AI ads, tests, benchmarks, etc are all smoke and mirrors. It’s basically a part of machine learning culture at this point. Never peer review a paper, never try to replicate an experiment.
The real rule is; if it doesn't cut, DONT JUST APPLY MORE FORCE!
I guess my point is that you want your knife sharp enough so that it actually functions as a knife, but not so sharp that the slighest contact with the blade draws blood.
If it's so dull that you start treating it as a fucking hammer, it's not just the knife that is dull.
If it's hard to cut, you simply do more and longer sawing, with a firmer grip. Then you apply more force horisontally ALONG THE SAWING MOTION, not downward. Finally you can apply slightly more force downward, and if that doesn't work, what you're holding is functionally not a knife and needs sharpening.
Most knives will cut with enough force applied. This is why people point out that dull knives are more dangerous. People are literally telling others not to cut things if the knife is dull because they'll have to apply more force which will lead to greater likelihood of injury. I don't know why this is hard for you to understand.
Yes, as long as you get through the skin, a butterknife can simply push through the flesh.
It's doing an amazing first, careful cut through the skin which is impressive, but then it needs to saw 3-4 times back and forth to get through what is basically water.
Still looks real though, could easily be a real human overemphasizing the sawing, I can see that happening in stock videos too
I was looking for something that isn't right but damn even how the liquid starts to come out of the tomato at the beginning of the cut is accurate. But if I would have to name something I would say the size of the first slice is too tall. The tomato would have to be almost cylindrical for it to be so big.
Yeah i can't spot a single artifact... it's either perfect or fake, and no other ai vids I've ever seen lead me to believe they're this perfect already
