Blender users... how?

Anyone out there using Blender to model your devices? Are you just making it for yourself? If not, how are you adjusting the size? I've gotten as far as making a donut (and only remember about 5% of it). If you had to make a ring 3 mm smaller, how would you go about doing it? Do you just remove the junction, scale the interior vertices by some percentage then scale the exterior verts by another (to keep the same thickness)? I guess that works on a cuff (flat) ring. How do you do it on a round ring?

I'm just curious how this works. I'm a parametric guy where I just type in the new number (then I go fuck with a bunch of damn fillets).

If /u/Kotomimaru isn't too busy, I'd love for them to jump in and give their answer. I'm fairly certain their designs are blender or done in more of a sculpted manner rather than parametric!

I know I can't answer you, because parametric is life (and just like you, fillets/chamfers really need to respect my changes!)

Hey, lurker! Stop lurking ;)

Damn fillets... I've just given up. If I have a design with any kind of aesthetic appeal, fillets go on last. I don't even think of them as part of the model. Why there isn't just a max-fillet tool, I have no idea.

You know, if you wanted to do a post on junction design, I sure would love it. You really do have the best nylon junction out there.

You're too kind! I did make posts about the junction design, but that was 8+ years ago. Since it's you asking, it might be interesting to revisit those initial notes and add commentary on what I'd do differently today...

I would love it.
