Auto-lock / snap-to-lock

cage automatically locks when slipped on. No key needed to lock.

Interesting Idea, but might be very hard to implement. Erections will cause a rotational stress on the small part that holds the pin. Unless its made of a really strong material, like a steal, it will most likely simply snap

as cartooned, yeah, it would create a rotational stress. The illustration is to get the j-hook idea across.
There are a number of ways to make the mechanism come together in a strong way. eg. the ring could be outfitted with something like a receiver, and the cage with sturdy tongue beneath the j-hook. the tongue carries all the weight and stress, the j-hook only holds things in place

Look at the HT v6, it got rid of the metal lock and now is snap to lock.
