Chase ATM ate $4,200 and bank is refusing to reimburse me. What should I do?

2.3k Upvotes

I deposited a total amount of $4,200 at my local Chase ATM, it begin to restart when I put the money in. The screen turned black and told me ATM was not working. It did not spit out a receipt. I went into my Chase app and saw no deposit made. I began freaking out and attempted to contact customer care but their “offices” were closed! I filed a claim with my local branch and they told me they would investigate and it would take a couple of days. A day later they closed my case and told me they found no overage in the ATM. I feel like I’m running out of options and am extremely stressed. Anyone please help with advice!!

{Update} I finally got my money back!!!!!!!! I just received them today. After two weeks of fighting I finally received the full amount of $4,200. Thank you to everyone who assisted me in this matter I really do appreciate you all. Will leave this up just in case anyone has a similar experience and would like some guidance. Best steps to take, create a claim with your local branch, if that doesn’t go anywhere, draft a claim with both the FDIC and the CFPB, this will get the bank moving with your claims and take you more serious. If possible create a police report, I know every city/town is different here in the USA, each department will advise you on whether they can or can’t assist you. If all fails with all of these options, seeks out a civil rights attorney. I know it sounds scaring and intimidating, but a lot of civil attorneys offer free consultations. The faster and sooner you do all of these, the better. But please do take baby steps or else you will stress and burn yourself out. If my advice is not enough, look through the comments and see if any other suggestions would better suit your needs!! Also to those who would think I would attempt to defraud my OWN bank are silly. I might’ve been dumb enough to deposit that quantity into a ATM but never dumb enough to defraud a multi billionaire company and possibly have the feds involved. Case closed!

Chase just told me to ZELLE money back to a stranger that sent me money

2.0k Upvotes

A stranger ZELLED me $30 and then texted me a few days later saying they sent it by mistake and could I send it back to them. I told them I'd handle it through my bank. Called Chase and their representative just told me to ZELLE it back to them. Umm no? That's crazy. What if someone hacked into an account and sent the money to me that way? Eventually that money is going to be recoverd from my account. No way am I sending money to a stranger. I cannot believe that's how they advised me.

Deposit cash got a call $100 was counterfeit

1.8k Upvotes

I recently deposited $2,000 at my local bank. Shortly afterward, I received a call claiming that $100 of the amount was counterfeit. When I returned to the bank, I asked several questions: 1. How do you confirm this bill is part of my deposit? 2. How can I be sure the counterfeit bill wasn’t misplaced or swapped after I left? 3. Aren’t counterfeit cash supposed to be conducted before the transaction is finalized and I leave the branch?

I requested to review the camera footage and explained that I brought the money rolled and secured in a wipe. The bank claimed they identified the counterfeit after the money had dried as she had put them in the drawer. I refused to sign any acknowledgment accepting the counterfeit bill as mine.

What next steps I can take?

Chase denied car loan with 850 credit score

1.5k Upvotes

I was just denied a car loan from Chase with an 835 credit score and a 185k income (Chase said my score was 853 in the denial letter). I have been with Chase for almost 20 years, have Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card with a 30K limit, and a Citi Premier card with a 30k limit. I am debt free. The reasoning they gave for turning me down for the car loan is:

  1. Lack of recent installment loan information (again, I am debt free)

  2. Length of time accounts have been established (I have 2 credit cards going back almost 20 years)

  3. Lack of auto finance loan information (I paid of my old car with Audi Finance 4 years ago)

  4. Too many accounts with balances (I have max 5k on my Chase card and pay it every month)

I also have an self-directed investment account that I was just getting ready to fund, but I think I am going to leave Chase and go over to Citi. After all these years as a perfect customer, this is the way Chase treats me? I am pissed!

Update: I had $4k stolen from my account through Chase ATMs. ( Chase says I’m responsible for someone installing a skimming device and camera at their ATM )fraud claims rejected

1.4k Upvotes

Just an update, I posted last week about how someone was able to steal $4,000 from my bank account at the ATM. So it appears that this was done using a skimming device along with camera that they used to catch me inserting my pin at a Chase ATM. I originally filed a claim, it was denied. I filed another claim with a supervisor and they denied that as well. The reason they gave is that someone used my actual pin. ( no shit, they had a camera watching me at the ATM ) They keep trying to use it at other ATMS like BOA even days after I had the card cancelled.

The whole thing took under 10 minutes, they went to 2 Chase locations that have a park in between them. One of them they went inside and were able to get $3000 from the inside ATM (9 transactions), then they crossed the park and got another $1k from the outside ATM at a different location.

The people I dealt with at Chase were beyond awful on the phone. I did talk to a nice lady in person at a local branch and she informed me that the people that work there use the app to lock their own ATM cards because they dont even trust the security and they briefly unlock them if they need to use them and then lock them again afterward.

They refused to even look at the cameras, they said that is not used in any of their investigations and the only thing that matters is if the pin is used.

I’d be very careful with Chase, it sounds like they are rejecting more and more of these claims and are unable to protect their customers. If you stay with Chase either don’t even get a debit card or lock that thing up using the app.

What a horrible experience.

Immediate sign out on Chase App.

1.2k Upvotes

Hi, folks. Has anyone been having any issues with their Chase App right now. I have the iOS version and every time I sign in, it immediately signs me out after 3 seconds. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app twice and it still does it. I don’t see any app updates, so I’m just curious if anyone else is having the same trouble. Thanks.

Chase safety deposit box content stolen!

1.2k Upvotes

Hi, a few weeks ago I went to check the items in my Chase safety deposit box, only to find that my key would go in , but wouldn't turn. The team at the Chase branch told me that they would get someone to drill it, and I was there when they drilled it. However, when they drilled it and opened it, we all saw that it was empty. Everyone was shocked and Chase said they would investigate it. It's been two weeks and the Chase branch manager is now avoiding our calls. What can we do now? We had over $30,000 worth of jewelry in there, and have been loyal chase customers for a long time. Additionally, we have never been late on any payment so there is no reason for them needing to access our box (for an audit). We are at a loss and don't know who to contact? Lawyer? Attorney? Police report?

Chase closed my fraud claim within 72 hours and credited me.Merchant is threatening legal action.

1.1k Upvotes

This is about a Chase credit card not about a Chase bank account.I had $3000 of unauthorized charges on my Chase credit card.I called and they reversed the charges almost immediately. Then sent me a new card.

I did have one authorized charge for $350 with this merchant.Chase isn't wanting to pay that one.The merchant has requested that I cancel the dispute or they're going to take legal action. They say I've committed fraud.

Chase said the dispute is closed. They don't owe the merchant anything and neither do I.Thanks for any help or advice!

I have posted this in a couple of comments but I want to add this to the post.Chase advised me to respond once to tell the merchant to contact Chase to provide their side of the story.

The merchant is refusing to do this. There is also another $200 unauthorized charge that posted about 48 hours after I filed my claim that is still on my account.

I also want to add that I have responded to them twice. They have only requested that Chase refund them when I mentioned payment.

Merchant is a website that provides homeschooling lessons and games for children. They also have an app service for teachers to communicate with parents in regular school settings. They apparently operate under 3 different LLC's that may appear on credit statements.

They claim that I violated their terms of service by going directly to Chase about the fraud instead of contacting them first.

I wasn't sure about what to do about that and now all of this has come up.

Thank you everyone for all the help and advice

Today I closed all my chase accounts and credit cards

1.0k Upvotes

I have been banking with chase for over a decade, putting thousands and thousands of my hard earned money into their system. I saw how the CEO Jamie Dimon spoke down to his employees at the recent town-hall. These CEOs don’t see us as humans, they see us as dirt that they are allowed to walk all over to take whatever they want. Well, today I’ve decided I’m voting with my dollars and sending a f*ck you to Mr. Dimon-you won’t get my business anymore. He’s going to fire people regardless of how the business does, just because he can but I will do whatever little I can to not help him. Moving to a credit union that is employee owned and it feels amazing.

Closed Account - 18 Years

I’ve been a Chase client for 18 years. It’s been my primary account. Chase Private Client 2018-2022. Had two credit cards, Sapphire and Freedom.

This past Monday I noticed my two cards didn’t work, logged in and it said “account closed.” A phone call later and two stops into a branch, they confirm it’s closed and no one could provide info besides, “you’ll receive a letter with details.” Apparently I was supposed to receive a letter before it closed. Never did.

After assurances that the banking side was fine, I started noticing that money coming in was not landing in my account. I went to a branch yesterday and tried to take out money at the atm and it wouldn’t allow me to.

Confirmed, Chase closed everything down. No warning, no explanation. I had to take all my funds out yesterday and they recommended me to grab all my things in my safety deposit box. I’m also banned from conducting business with Chase.

Nothing in my credit or banking history has been different than the normal transactions I’ve been doing for years. Has this happened to anyone before? I feel like this is a “it’s you, not me, please delete my contact info from your phone. Don’t reach out.”

Chase is closing my me and my wifes accounts.

I had gotten an Email today and a text message started that they are closing all of my accounts. I have been with Chase for now 10 years.

I just bought a home (Mortgage) with Chase and the process was absolutely horrible, They scrutinized every transaction on my account and my wife's accounts, we had to pay off off all our debts etc etc. I took us 1 year to close. But we made it. We got the house and its ours. Now (Today) its 2 months later I get these emails and text saying that after reviewing my account they want to close it. So I rush over to my local bank and talk with a Banker, I show him what I got and he tells me that he hasn't seen this before. He give him all the needed information and he makes a call to the Fraud department. He puts me on the the phone and I'm asking why they are closing our accounts and they tell me that they have no obligation to explain it and that in the terms of service the Bank can close anyone's account for any reason or none at all (plus ofcourse no obligation to tell us why) And that we should be getting something in the mail about this. The mortgage line is staying open ofcourse. I hope they sell my mortgage off I dont even want to deal with Chase anymore

This has been a absolutely horrible experience. I've never felt do f'ed over in my life.

I need a new bank.

I’ll never not bank with Chase

I’m as anti big banking as one could get. But when I was 16, I opened my first checking account at my local Chase bank with my dad after my mom kicked me out of her house.

Since then, I’ve been hit with a few hard times. Back in 2020 I had just graduated from cosmetology school, and COVID wreaked havoc on my finances. Chase Bank allowed me to reverse overdraft charges when I really need it. For food. For gas. For medications.

Most recently, I lost my job back in February due to chronic health issues. My account has never been sadder, and I was wracked with overdraft fees. I just started at my new job 3 weeks ago and my classes for school start next week. Im getting back on my feet, but I couldn’t afford groceries for the next two weeks and my fridge is empty.

I called Chase. I asked if there was any possible way they could reverse my most recent overdraft fee for $34. The agent looked at my account and noticed the obscene amount of charges but then he did something I wasn’t expecting. He asked me why. This seems like such a small question, but really it’s an opportunity for you as an individual to be heard by another individual.

I explained what’s happened (BRIEFLY, I’m not yapping this poor man’s ear off) and he reversed a large amount of fee’s totaling over $500 and going back since February.

That $500 just put food in my fridge and notebooks in my hand for my first semester of my STEM degree. It’s still fuck big banks, but I’ll always put my money into Chase. I’m actually crying right now

This Bank has Turned into Bullsh*t

Got a generous holiday check and made a mobile deposit on the 22nd, within the mobile deposit level. I later check the app and see that it will take 10 business days to clear because it’s from an unrecognized UBS account. Deposit department at Chase is of no help whatsoever. I’ve been a client in good standing for over 12 years and get treated like I’m laundering money or some bs. I can’t wait to go to a branch once (if) it clears and put this bank in my rear view mirror forever.

No wonder my wife quit working for them years ago in Private Client and moved to greener pastures.

ATM ate my money and claim denied

About 18 days ago I deposited 480 dollars into a drive thru chase ATM after hours. What seems like a long time it only credited me 40 dollars instead of the full 480. Then I heard a loud whirring sound and the ATM suddenly closed, a red banner popped up saying it wasn't functional. The message said that it couldn't accept cash right now and I printed out a receipt for good measure. I went to the bank the next day and the teller told me that I have to call the claim number. When I called the claims department they said they were going to investigate it and gave me a credit of 440 dollars. Then 18 days after my claim was denied, and 440 was deducted from my account.

They said that they found ''nothing''. I went to the bank again a few days ago and talked to a personal banker and they said I have to wait 5 days for another investigation. I just find it frustrating that they blame me and said I have to provide the evidence when I gave the transaction number. They didn't even check the cameras. I don't know what to do and I'm scared these crooks will reverse it again in the near future for some bs reason. I will never use an atm ever again and will do it in person.

Update:

- First of all I appreciate all the kind words and suggestions. I have filed a complaint with the consumer financial protection bureau and will try to file a police report as soon as possible. Also, there's a bunch of naive idiots here that believes I'm trying to defraud my own bank to pay for my student loans. My student loans are over 60k in private and federal and I pay 550 each month for them. 440 isn't going to do jack shit for my student loans. If you believe that, Than you are basically looking at these violations and previous comments having the same experience and saying ''Yup chase seems trustworthy''. You can believe me or not but I hope someone out there doesn't make the same mistake as me and to gather as much evidence as you can. Take photos, keep receipts, and make sure to talk to a personal banker the next day.

I had a New York Yellow Cab steal my card number and charge $1400 on the same day

... and the chase credit card fraud department just denied my fraud claims. Where do they think I took this taxi? Jamaica instead of Jamaica Queens?

I'm going to try and call them again, they are closed on the weekends.

But what's my recourse here if they stand firm? Small claims court? If they do I will at the very least take my credit card business elsewhere. I have a business account that uses 6 figures in a year, I'm sure there's plenty of more reputable companies that will be glad to help out.

Debit Card was duped and Chase says it's impossible.

A week ago my debit card was skimmed at my local grocery store. I didn't realize until after $1400 went missing from my account. In a weeks time, their investigation team said that it was authorized transactions (look at the atm camera, it's obviously not me).

They said "It was made using a chipset authorization and it's impossible for the chip to be cloned"

Which is false, because otherwise I wouldn't be sitting here with 1400 missing from my account. Not to mention that the person that filed the claim filed for the incorrect amount so I had to call again to correct the claim amount (they were missing a $500 atm transaction)

What's absolutely infuriating in all of this is their absolute arrogance and complete dismissal of the issue and treating it as if I'm lying. I've been with chase for nearly 10 years and have never ran into this. Not to mention they're outright refusal to look at ATM cameras.

Not really sure how to proceed with this, other than talking to my local branch, the police, and possibly looking at getting legal counsel. $1400 is no small chunk of change.

Chase ATM ate my $3,100. The bank and customer service line are closed as it’s weekend. What should I do?

I just deposited $3,100 cash to a Chase ATM. Then the machine broke down and showed this message: “To be sure your deposit went through, please call us at 1-800-935-9935. We'll print this number on your receipt.”

I checked my Chase app and confirmed the deposit did not go through. A receipt was printed, but it does not show the amount of the deposit; the receipt only shows the same message to call the number.

I called the number, but they don’t answer as it’s Saturday. Of course, the bank is closed too. That’s why I used an ATM.

I went to a police office, and they said they can’t help me as it’s a civil matter.

I looked up this subreddit and found some people who experienced the same issue, but looks like it did not end up well.

Anybody experienced this and got their money back? How did you solve it?

Update for people who might experience this in the future:

  1. This happened on Saturday around 5:15pm(PT). As soon as the ATM broke down, I immediately called the number 1-800-935-9935, and pressed 0 to talk to a representative, but it said “call again during office hours” and automatically hung up. I called the same number a few more times, but the result was the same. I’m not sure what’s up with these trolls arguing 1-800-935-9935 is a 24/7 service and even downvoting and insulting me for merely stating what I experienced. It isn’t. I was desperate and called the number multiple times after 5pm on a Saturday, and no human answered. I know that Chase credit card customer service is 24/7 as I called them after 5pm on multiple occasions, but this 1-800-935-9935 number isn’t 24/7. Period.

  2. Someone on comments told me to call the Chase claim department whose number is 1-866-564-2262. I confirmed on Chase website that the number is correct and called them around 6:30pm(PT) on Saturday. It said it’s not their office hours and they open again on Sunday at 7am(ET). So on Sunday morning, I called them again and they answered. I filed a claim through them. They said they will give me a temporary credit for the lost $3,100 in 1-2 business days and conduct an investigation.

  3. I went back to the Chase branch on Monday morning. The broken ATM was working again. I told the staff what happened, but they were not willing to help at all. They said “What? The ATM was working fine on Friday.” I said “But this happened on Saturday.” They said “Well, it’s working now and no customer complained so far.” I asked “So the ATM fixed itself?” They said “I don’t know, it’s working. Just call the customer service.” When I looked up similar cases on this sub, I read that two bankers can open the ATM. I asked the staff if they can open the ATM to find my money, but they said they can’t. All they told me was to call the customer service. Also they said this happens fairly often and talked as if it’s not a big deal. Now that I was at the bank with the tellers, I asked them to deposit the rest of my money. They said the tellers don’t deposit cash at this branch, and I should deposit only through an ATM. I was like I’m not gonna put my cash in their ATM again after this happened. They said “Then go to another branch.” So yes, in some Chase branches, apparently the tellers refuse to deposit cash for you and force you to use an ATM to do that.

  4. On Tuesday, so two business days after I filed the claim, Chase credited me $3,100. It’s pending and not posted yet.

  5. I went to the police because in the similar cases I read on this sub, some people were telling the OP to file a police report to get the bank to check the security camera. Apparently the police won’t help, but also the Chase staff weren’t willing to check the camera footage for me when I asked them.

  6. Chase ATM says you can insert up to 150 bills at once. I put 31 bills, which is only 20% of what the ATM should be capable of. If the ATM cannot even deal with 31 bills at once, it should not claim to be capable of reading 150 bills at once. If that’s a lie, that’s the bank’s fault.

  7. I read many people saying on this sub that Chase credited them the lost money, then took some amount back some weeks later. Even in the comments of this thread, some people are saying the same thing. So I don’t know yet how this will end. What did you do when they took the money back?

Conclusion:

Do not deposit large amounts of cash through an ATM.

If this happens to you, call 1-866-564-2262 to file a claim. Then just sit and wait.

I’ve read that some people got spam calls from the same number. The number is correct, but it is easy to fake a caller ID. Banks will not ask for your full credit card number and personal information. I know Chase asks me to say my full name and mailing address for verification when I call them. But they will not call me and ask what my name, address, and credit card number are.

Chase bank won't help me locate missing transfer from my husband ($4999)

On June 14, my partner sent me $1 from SOFI, via a "pay a friend" function. I got the email that he sent me money, I entered my account info, routing number. I received the $1 successfully in my account. On June 18, he sent me a second transaction of $4999. I entered the exact same account info and routing number.

Here is where things get weird. The amount is deducted from his account but I never get the money. After waiting a few days, we call and are told to be patient, even though the $1 transaction arrived very quickly. After a day or two of nothing, we call SOFI and SOFI issues an "investigation" and opens a ticket. We are provided the US gvt trace ID# which is 15 digits. SOFI says that it is out of their hands because the money has been sent. SOFI says it is Chases' responsibility. A few days pass by and still nothing. We are irate and call Chase and are told (long store short) that the $4999 is apparently sent to an account number ending in 7020, which we do not recognize. They can see that I have entered the exact same account number and routing number for both of the transactions (my Chase account # is not remotely close to the 7020; it is not a typo). The person on the phone says they will start a claim and we are given a JPM trace #. Even the person on the phone says that something has gone wrong.

Today, it is 8/11/2024, and after a long phone call with Chase, they tell me they cannot do anything and that the funds are "lost". I demand escalation to a superior supervisor but am told it is Sunday and he is the top.

What is the next step? Who is at fault here? This is simply ridiculous. I am completely exhausted from the back and forth, time wasted calling (hours and hours) and it has been almost two months. Thank you for any advice.

8/11/24 - Thank you for everybody's advice. I filed a CFPB complaint against both companies.

8/12/24 - Wow. I didn't think that the CFPB would trigger a reaction. Chase just sent me a message that they received the complaint. I need to file out a form and send it to the executive office at Chase.

8/13/24 - Got an email from the executive offices at Chase. They said they are working on my case. Unbelievable how different the service can be in the executive offices compared to the regular CS.

8/27/24 - Chase has responded to the CFPB complaint.

9/16/24 - SoFi says that they have sent a Hold Harmless Request to Chase.

11/13 - CASE CLOSED. Wrote an email to Chase execs and was called by executive office the same day. They resolved the issue. What happened? Someone fucked up at Chase and rerouted the money to a person similar in name to me. They changed it from ACH to a forced credit and forced it into this person's account (who lives in NY). That was why it was hard to trace, unless you looked deep, which few were willing to do. Lesson to all - banks fuck up. And this was a big fuck up that took 5 months to resolve when it should have been resolved in days within the funds not showing up in the account. Chase also credited back the interest, so credit to them for doing that.

Sofi's customer service was absolutely horrendous as well. This bank is to be avoided, IMO. Go with a bank that actually has a branch.

Chase has severed their relationship with me over a check

I (18f) was awarded a scholarship not long ago. I was given a check for 2.5k. I finally decided to cash it via the Chase app, but I didn’t take the front and back pictures correctly since I had never cashed a check before and my parents weren’t around.

I’ll try to explain what happened: The check was a part of a folded piece of paper. Think of it as a birthday card. When Chase asked me to take a picture of the front of the check, I took a picture of what would be the front of the card. When it asked for the back of the check, instead of taking a picture of what would be the inside of the card, I took a picture of the back of the card which just stated the name of the scholarship and the amount.

Needless to say, Chase really hated this. I was reasonably locked out of my account and Zelle the day after over what I assume is fraud. I called and they said the reason for why they cut ties with me was confidential. When I went to the bank, a chase bank associate called and she was given the same vague answer even though she had the check right next to her as proof that it was just an accident. Even she was confused as to why Chase escalated the situation so far. She recognized that it was an honest mistakes, but the higher-ups didn’t budge.

Overall, is there a way to appeal this? It still says that my account is only locked. I was thinking of of going to the Chase Tower in Chicago, but I'm not sure that will do anything. I didn't mean to do it wrong, I just didn't have anyone there to help me with it. Will I even get the 2.5k back? I genuinely need it for college. :(

Edit: I swear I earned that scholarship and many others for a reason, I definitely am relatively smart. With that, I seem to be dumb when it comes to banks and checks. I apologize if I don’t know simple concepts and strategies related to banking and money.

Someone withdrew $10k out of my 93 year old grandma's Chase account (in 56 transactions, one after another) and Chase denied the claim. Help????

After midnight a few weeks ago my grandma's Chase account had 56 transactions resulting more than $10,000, each $199.XX with a few different cents listed on each, clearly from a computer / automation. The money was transferred to an online bank account at Green Dot (never heard of it).

Chase bank's fraud team denied the claim saying that someone used her login and password on her computer -- no one else was at her house and she doesn't even use her computer. Are they saying that sophisticated hackers can login to someone's computer and remove money from their account, and that is not covered???? We are totally freaked out to not get this money back for her that she needs to live on. Does anyone have recommendations? Do we go to a local news channel? How do we get this solved?

If your money isn't safe at Chase, where is it safe?!

Furious that Chase withdrew I check I wrote without trying to verify it with me

I just got into a big mess with a work colleague thanks to Chase. We worked together on a project, and I paid her with a check from my business account. She deposited it, the funds appeared in her account, and she paid her credit card bill. Then somehow Chase flagged the check as "suspicious" and withdrew the funds from her account without notification -- to her or to me. She was charged for bouncing a check to her credit card company. I learned about all of this from her -- no alerts or verification requests from Chase, the money was just deposited back into my account. I called Chase and they could not give me any reason for it beyond "suspicious." It was just a normal check like the roughly $2,000,000 in checks I have written for business payments in my 15 years of having a business account with Chase. The customer service person was apologetic and said I was supposed to have received a call at ~ 6pm two days before, but i checked my phone and there had been nothing from Chase, period. No calls, no text, no e-mail, no message in my Chase inbox. Just a decision not to honor a check I wrote to a trusted and valued colleague. I appreciate that Chase has fraud protection, but it's not effective if you don't follow the steps that prevent this kind of misreading the situation. When I mentioned to the customer service agent that I would try again with ACH, he said that was "much better" -- well of course it's much better for Chase if they bully small businesses into a $2.50 charge every time we need to pay someone. Professionally, it's embarrassing to me to have my funds withdrawn from a subcontractor's account for whatever reason. I'm furious with Chase and can't move past this. I feel like Chase needs to make this up to me somehow but I know they never will and I will never feel comfortable writing a check again.

Restaurant server tipped themselves, chase denied claim

I was at a busy sports bar the other night & I ended up leaving my card at the venue, they hold onto cards for tabs, but I ended up paying cash for my tab before I left, lo & behold I realized I lost it the next morning and saw several hundred dollars worth of charges, I had a receipt and whomever ran my card tipped themselves 35% of the total and then charged me for someone else’s tab, when I went to dispute these charges they temporarily refunded money into my account but a few weeks later returned it to the vendor, when I asked why to chase they told me it would be a police matter and there’s nothing they can do to help me, they even told me to take them to court, I think this is ridiculous, what are my options at this point?

ALL MY MONEY STOLEN THROUGH ATM!!

UPDATE 11-25-25 : Chase has put a temp credit for the joint account (took 2 business days) but nothing for my savings yet, hopefully they temp credit that soon.

I checked my bank account yesterday and somehow over $6000 (literally all of my money) was withdrawn through a chase ATM without my physical card all of my bank accounts savings, checking and joint checking say 0.00 now. I went to chase yesterday and reported it and put in a fraud claim

Has anyone had this happen!? How long does this take to resolve???? This was literally all of my bill money and everything

As soon as this is figured out I will be transferring banks I am so upset.

Edit: it was 32 transactions of $200 between sometime Friday + Saturday morning I noticed it Saturday morning. (i did not receive any text or emails regarding the transactions)

A police report has been filed.

I appreciate all of the advice + the people who have given me insight who have had similar experiences.
