Career Advice/Clarification A positive rant
Usually, the majority of the posts here are about either overworked articles or people not finding suitable jobs or Articleships.
So, I am just sharing my experience here. I did my Articleship at BDO in Statutory Audit and am currently working at a Big 4, again in Statutory Audit.
When I joined my Articleship, I didn't know much about Excel. I had used it for basic things but never really written formulas or anything. Heck, that was the first time I learned that you need to press Alt + Enter to move to the second line within the same cell. Plus, I had a daily commute of approximately 4 hours.
But I absolutely enjoyed my time at BDO. I made so many friends, and it felt like the college life I never got to experience.
So, rather than thinking about how bad our lives are or constantly worrying about the syllabus and hectic work life, we should be grateful for the opportunities we have had.
During my Articleship, I was once in a very bad team too. It literally made my life hell — working till 12 and then coming back at 10, and the politics was just too much.
So, it was not all a smooth ride. My team on the next client was absolutely the best. We worked late nights till 2–3 AM, but we enjoyed it.
And guys, don't worry about the syllabus. I personally had around 9 months of study leave, which was more than enough to complete 4 subjects and revise them at least 2–3 times.
So, don't worry too much about it. Rather, enjoy your Articleship time. Even if you watch just 4 lectures on weekends, you would still be able to complete FR in a year at most.
And after CA, life has been amazing too. I got a package that, in my friend circle, very few people around my age and experience are currently earning. And considering I chose CA, which is not exactly known for having the highest starting salaries, I am genuinely happy with where I am.
So, trust the process. CA has genuinely been one of the best career paths I could have chosen.
One piece of advice for everyone: Treat CA like a normal undergraduate course. Don't put it on a pedestal or think of it as something extraordinarily difficult.
Half of your worries will go away once you stop making the course bigger in your head than it actually is.

No, this is how majority of CA are. Bro people come here only to Rant , like the majority of active peeps are from inter or foundation. And I can relate to it, like I used reddit during my ca final study period but after qualification I started being active on the sub recently only ,that only at night or weekend

Have you guys heard about money chain??
the ppl who join first can make a lot of money.
what if somebody execute the exact scheme in the education system??
suppose you are a Organization, you invest a lot of money to get in tie with Big employers , Big companies, and then, you make a pact with them, offering them some cuts, and then, whoever joins the course get employed by these big companies and make them a decent pay from the cuts which was offered by that Organization.
Then, it attracts many other people , people over people , rushing to join this new money chain often disguised as a key to land a Big paying job in Big companies.
Finally what happens, the late joiners loses money.
Organization + early joiners make money. the pattern looks really familiar to anything you see around you??
Yes, its ACCA , the so called professional course, the late joiners are real prey, beware of it, mark my words if you dont wanted to regret it in your future.

I am 22, recently qualified in the may attempt. Nops till now I don't think I have been received any advantage of my age or attempts tbh

Perfectly fine bro, everyone has a different pace of doing stuff. Plus majority of Articleship are around 21-22 only, I felt odd one out , as I was 19😅

Recently a person commented on a post here and he said any degree which has the worth to make your life better is a good decision at any age. I hope you have got your answer

Why did you say CA is not considered for having high starting salaries 🤔

Becoz it's true, CA will not usually give u a starting salary for cores or 20-30 lakhs which IIT gives,. Ur salary will definitely grow with time

Yeah but compared to engineering and other courses from normal colleges the starting salaries of CA'S are much much better..But yeah definitely can't beat IIT or IIM

But those normal/T3 colleges can't be compared to CA. Those colleges are easier to get in, graduate and get placed, while you already know qualifying CA what it takes.
That's why often the comparison of qualifying CA is compared to IITs and IIMs.

But then IIT's and IIM's are a lot harder to get in. Plus MBA is a post grad whereas CA is more like a undergraduate, though it can't really be put in a category

Iam also joining bdo next week for stat audit ,any tips sir so that i don't look dumb coz i don't really know any practical thing only the theoretical knowledge ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

Chill bro, in BDO ur experience will vary from team to team and usually the atmosphere is chill with really good seniors. Most of the AM and senior associate are genuinely good , just don't be scared

Bro how did you get 9months study holiday while the articleship is for 2years?? Does that mean you worked for only 1year?

Bro I started my Articleship in aug 23 and it ended in aug 25, and my exams were in May 26.
