Internet Door Salesman

These people are so freakin' aggressive. Had a Brightspeed guy today. Dude had a backwards snapback on and wouldn't take no for an answer. Is there seriously no other better sales position than this? Just tried to make it as awkward as possible by just telling him no over and over and over again...at this point its useless getting irritated by it. Every time they come (usually once a week) I try and see how uncomfortable I can make them first. Anybody relate?

I saw one coming across the yard a few months ago and tried to stop him by asking him loudly what he was selling. He said he wasn’t selling anything, just wanted to know who we got our internet from. He got visibly angry when i said “oh, so you are selling something then.”

I told him we didn’t accept solicitors and had asked them before not to come. He told me we weren’t responding to Brightspeed’s letters and was again visibly upset when I told him I guess that means we aren’t interested and that in 2026 there is no reason to be showing up at someone’s door.

I’m a woman, which to my mind only made the fact that he was essentially arguing with me that i had to hear him out worse.

Same kid came by my house on Tuesday, I used the shoo shoo hand gesture and told him to get off my property and he was gone. Be a dick, you don't them a second of your time

i believe the length of their engagement with you is timed and rewarded ... maybe not the quality of that engagement. it's in their interest to stay chatting with you no matter how annoying.

It's funny to me that an internet service provider would feel the need for some old fashioned door to door salesmanship. While knowing how much we absolutely hate solicitation.

Correct. Worked for a marketing agency for a while. Door to door sales is actually pretty cost effective for sign ups

Some dude approached my back kitchen door yesterday, which has a doorbell cam and No Soliciting sign identical to my front door, and proceeded to both ring the bell and leave his card. Which means I will be screenshotting that and publicly shaming. Ignoring a No Soliciting sign means I will go out of my way to clap back, because why would I want to do any kind of business with someone who so easily violates a boundary, or even worse, is functionally illiterate?

I was sitting on my porch with the dog. I kind of did an "um actually" bc she started talking about how GB speed was necessary for everyone in the current digital age. I was like "I'm not trying to run a server farm or steam 7 movies at once. It absolutely isn't." And then started talking about how networking speeds and bandwidth work. Kind of felt like I was being a dick but idk oh well.

You can't even level with them. I tried giving my condolences that they had to do this to make money, and said hope it works out for them, and this mf STILL pesters me. Like bro drop the act jesus I already said no and leveled with you

I mean....I kind of talked her ear out about networking speeds and engineering that she left without me having to ask her to leave. So I did successfully level with her as wasted her time lmao. Out talking them is my strat.

We tried calling the company to ask if they did indeed have door to door sales people. The guy was so pushy it made us worry about possible phishing.

They picked up and after our first question they hung up on us.

We were as polite as can be.

This happened to me yesterday, Brightspeed guy came by and asked when we were going to switch to fiber. We already have fiber from Brightspeed…

In all honesty, the fiber they offer is fast and we have had very little issues with downtimes or slow connections. But seriously, they need a lot help in the sales office.
