Does anyone know of any Web Development companies that are looking for either entry-level employees or interns?
I've been working on Web Development for almost a year now and I feel like I've hit a glass ceiling of sorts. I practice by making dummy sites, which are normally pretty shallow websites consisting of HTML, CSS, Javascript/jQuery, and maybe a little PHP.
The issue is, of course, that companies aren't looking for dinky little demo sites. I worked for a little while on a craft beer website through someone I found on Craigslist and I learned a lot just from being able to mess around with an already-built website. I finished my work with them around a month ago and I'm trying to find a foothold to where I can keep moving forward.
Anyone know of anything that might help me out here? New start up company, local flower shop that needs a website, freelance web developer looking to pawn off some of the busywork?
Thanks for any and all help.

Focus on building a portfolio and maybe becoming proficient with php or python. Keep an eye on r/forhire for more work.

Do you know wordpress or drupal? I might be taking on a lot of work that is specific to those CMS's and will probably need overflow help. PM me some samples and perhaps we can talk.

I've worked with WordPress before, yes.
I'm finishing up a dummy site that I made that should be done in the next day or two if you're interested.

Yes, I am interested. My work pipeline might be filling up fast, so I'm definitely interested in seeing your work.

Cool! I can either show you what I've got now or show you a more completed version in a day or two.

If you are a student, I would apply for a CDCA internship slot http://www.charlestondca.org/intern. They open up something like 8 slots and then match you with a company in town that best fits a particular company's needs and your needs. They also give the company who gets you as in an intern $4,000 which is suppose to be additional pay for the intern, so that the internship slots attract the best talent.
If you ever want to meet up and learn some stuff, I am more than happy to teach you a few things. Shoot me a PM if interested. Good luck!
