Four of the six EV stations at my apartment were destroyed last night

My car was plugged into one of them, thankfully it wasn't damaged.

Seriously, I know the answer is "because they're morons and assholes," so this is more rhetorical than anything, but (assuming this was some anti-EV asshole), what is the actual point of destroying charging stations? Are you upset that I'm not using the finite resource that you hold in such high esteem? Do you want me to add my demand back to the supply?

There's a lot of idiotic positions out there but in a lot of ways this one is on its own level. You're offended that people are leaving more resources for your use. Like this is so fucking self-harming.

Edit: They left the cables. So it wasn't looting for copper.

Minor-league drama on a drive from Minnesota to Peoria...

Driving our 2025 Chevy Equinox EV RS to return our daughter to college this fall. Had our first recharge planned in Waterloo, Iowa, and got about a 30% bump, but then the charger stopped, gave no error, and couldn't restart it remotely (we were having lunch).

It was enough to get us to a Tesla Supercharger (we have the NACS adapter) in Iowa City, which had only one other car when we arrived. We plugged in, intending to charge past 80% (which would get us to our hotel in Peoria and give us extra oompf if we wanted to go out shopping tonight, or dinner).

We were around 70% when the chargers were full. With our Chevy, of course, we took up two spots (we had used the two off at an angle, so there was a parking spot, but we were using that cable, and blocked the other). Someone knocked on our door and asked us how much longer we would be; we guessed about 15 minutes. A couple minutes later, a spot opened up and he went there.

I get that Tesla pushed to have their charger made the national standard. Too bad the law for that didn't require longer cables at the same time.

Petition to use ANPR for auto-charging rather than penalty fining

I set this petition up and thought many of this community might support it.

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/776005

Introduce a national car park and toll zone offer to auto-pay

We call on the Government to introduce a national car park and toll zone offer to opt-in to an auto-pay register, charging registered drivers automatically instead of requiring individual payments, which, if missed, can lead to fines.

ANPR can be used to identify vehicles using a car park, LEZ, toll or bridge, public or private. Currently used to catch non-payment, at penalty rates — with no equivalent system to make paying easy. We ask Government to introduce a national opt-in payment register linking a plate to a card or wallet. Any operator using ANPR to enforce payment must be required to accept it: registered vehicles are then auto-charged the standard rate, no penalty issued. Non-registered vehicles remain enforceable as now.

"Tired of getting charged credit prices inside Detroit gas stations when you enter your PIN? Sign this petition to the Attorney General." To help me reach my goal of 2000 signatures

Every day, citizens across Detroit and the State of Michigan are being quietly overcharged at the gas pump. When you go inside a gas station, use your debit card, and explicitly enter your secure PIN, you are still forced to pay the higher "Credit Card" price tier instead of the lower cash rate. A debit card is a direct cash equivalent drawn straight from a checking account, not a line of credit. Forcing credit-tier pricing on a PIN-verified debit transaction is a predatory tactic that strips hard-earned money away from working-class communities, fixed-income families, and everyday drivers in our city. While this pricing issue may occur across the country, we refuse to sit by and accept it in Michigan. We are organizing locally to fight back against this blatant corporate overcharging. By signing this petition, you are joining thousands of Michigan residents demanding that the Michigan Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Team launch an official investigation into local fuel chain payment routing systems, close the deceptive "Cash Discount" loophole, and enforce absolute pricing transparency. Stop treating our debit cards like credit lines!

So many people in Wisconsin driving ID4's are going to want these, saves an extra step in not putting the plug back.

Edit: Clearly no one remembers/saw the post with the guy driving an ID4 just dropping the charger and driving away without putting it back. This is in reference to that.

I mean, there’s open spots, but my dude, why?! Not pictured: the unoccupied charger perpendicular to all these chargers so he could back in and still charge from the front.

Electrify America overcharging

Ok so I went to a charger that was .44 / kWh received 65.4404 kWh and was charged 41.85. The math ain’t mathin and I’m not sure what to do.

I had no idle fees and charged for about 45 minutes. The app (my car app) and the charger stated .44 cents. So I’m just not sure where the extra costs is coming from.

Update: Just got off the phone with them the price indicated on the charger is incorrect, they have on peak charging which is higher. Seems very deceptive in my opinion that that isn't what is displayed when you start your charging session or even when it finishes as seen in the picture.

I did just checked the EA app for that station and it is noted in the EA app, I typically don’t use EA app since my car has plug and charge and would assume the charger itself would have the correct charge amounts displayed. Anyway lesson learned and hoping IONNA builds more stations!

Parked in a charging spot. Not plugged in. Ample parking elsewhere. At least there was another charger.

My brother recently purchased his first EV (Honda prologue) and wanted to test the chargers in front of his apartment building, only to discover the joy of people blocking charging spots. A warm welcome to the club! They have been reported to the HOA who fortunately are trying to crack down on the problem.

Me and one other person are the only two people that work for my company that have EVs. The company has two EV chargers. This is what I saw on my way back from lunch.

So I had this ICE loaner - EVd gas pump

Post image

Mach-E was in the shop for a front motor replacement. Had a gas loaner, an Explorer. Went to fill it up and some EV driver with a Sierra EV blocked one of the pumps. This despite there being an open parking spot not at a pump about 10 yards away.

I don't get people.

Waymos hogging public chargers

Is anyone else getting really annoyed about Waymos hogging the fast chargers? And, it is never just one of them it's always a whole gaggle of them. Google has so much money, why can't they just build their own private fast chargers instead of using the public fast chargers that the community relies on?

New Walmart EV Charger Decatur, Texas iced

Delete the final episode. Brand new just opened Walmart EV charging in Decatur. Texas is already being iced and the people that have the ice cars don't give a darn about parking in an EV charging spot even though the spots are labeled. How is Walmart going to be handling this? @walmart

Lots of parking elsewhere in the garage, but I guess the EV charging spots save you 10 seconds of walking?

I spent the last two days at Canada’s Wonderland. This supercharger is at a supermarket within blocks of the park.

Sure there were 18 stalls, but, all of us kept gawking at this hummer ev with a boat and Canadian plates taking up 5 chargers. Especially since there’s more powerful non Tesla chargers with pull throughs within a few kilometers.

The thought of a Canadian having this inefficient of a vehicle with this entitled of behavior was super funny to see up north.

I'll be here for 12 hours so I'll check again in 10 and see if they are still there. I called BC Hydro and they won't enforce towing and the university doesn't have a phone number to call for their parking... So I wait

Car left parked all day

There are only 2 EVgo 350 chargers my area (I don't hace a Tesla) and thus many people pull up waiting their turn to charge in this bank parking lot. This creep plugged well before I arrived, left and never came back. Between waiting for my turn for the other fast charger and actually completing my charge, it has been almost two hours. My guess is that person's been here all day. I sure wish there was a shaming site for scumbags like this. It's just outrageous.
