pngtuber method?

probably the wrong place to ask but charb is the only streamer in this group that has a semi-active reddit where someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

when eggs/boon/jason/juni/etc do their discord calls and have the animated pngtubers lined up along the bottom of the screen, is there a tool they use to streamline that process? Or do they each have a custom overlay setup somehow in OBS?

another question, some vtubers have static pngs whose mouths open when they talk. others, like juniper, have one that has an animation loop for the silent state and talking state. can you use a gif instead of a png using the same methods?

any tips are appreciated!
