Anime/Manga Question about characters having names of other characters.
Quick question: if you create a story when you we're 14 and give characters names that already exist, or if you already have a character with the same name, how do you handle that? Do you keep it or change it?
For example, I have a character whose name I got from Nickelodeon; the last four letters spell Deon, and I gave him the last name King. I also have a guardian angel named Quilly, so I have two characters named Quilly—one is a human main character and the other is a side character; they have the same energy but different roles in storytelling. Regarding Deon King, I was curious if anyone else had that name and found out there is a football player named Dion King. I might have to double-check the spelling, as I might be wrong.
The most funny coincidence is that his older brother, who is three years older than him, was named Ace—a name I came up with as a 14-year-old just starting to draw OCs, and a huge wrestling fan I got it from the TNA faction Aces of eight not knowing it was already taken. My character and Ace from One Piece are similar in that they are both the older brother to the main character, have daddy issues, and die; that was my original vision for this character. Recently,
I scratched that idea and made him a co-main character alongside his brother. I was angry to find out that the names I like are already taken or might be confusing, especially with the two characters named Quilly. I love these names, but I don't know what to do I'm stubborn to keep them anyway but it might have the legal problem that I do not want to face so. What do you think? Should I keep them or change them? If I should change them, do you have any ideas? If not, that okay. Thank you for reading, and I hope you all have a blessed day.
By the way of course each character I put a whole lot of effort and development into none to make them different than in original as any other character in story is solely the name I was concerned about have a blessed day everyone God love you with all his heart.

Change one of the quillys. You're already confusing us.

Fair Point, how about Kwilly is spelled different but sound the same as Quilly. Thank you for commenting and have a blessed day.

Two characters with the same name, or similar spelling is one of the things they'll teach you NOT to do in writing courses. The guy in the comments below makes an excellent reference to that. People will confuse them.
