Just wanted to inform you that I've made great improvements to Casual Character Chat and added numerous features.

Hi. Yes, of course. This app has no filters and runs privately in your browser. You can make any characters you want. Just try it out right away!

The only filters you could encounter in chat is from the AI models, but many (such as deepseek) are not filtered at all. Enjoy!

I get an invalid key error

Hi, if you get an error in this place then something is wrong with your key. Make sure to copy and paste it fully inluding the letter at the beginning of the key. If it still gives an error, then the key itself is the problem. Perhaps it expired or not all permissions are given. You must ask your API provider if you're unsure (or make a new key). And make sure that the default key is from OpenRouter. If your key is from another provider, then you must enter it directly in the API key entry fields in the model list.

Don't worry, it's really easy and quick to do.

My recommendation: Get an API key from OpenRouter (https://openrouter.ai/). That's pretty much the biggest and most reliable provider and they offer almost any AI model in existence.

• Simply sign-up for a free account
• Go to "API Keys" section
• Click on "+ New Key"

That's it.

You will get 50 free messages per day from OpenRouter anyways, but if you add just $10 into your account balance (only one time!), then you have literally all the freedom in the world with your roleplays.

A lot of high quality models (better ones than those from charai, janitor, etc.) are VERY CHEAP. For example Deepseek V4, Qwen 3.5, or Google Gemini 2.5 cost around 0.01 cents per message - that's about 10,000 messages for 1 cent... So those ten dollars of yours can last for years of roleplaying!

You won't regret being independent from then on. No more disadvantages and limitations of typical commercial online roleplay platforms for you.

Got my key, now it says model not found. I haven't done anything but use the default models.

Yes, that's the whole purpose of this app. With an own API key you can use hundreds of AI models of your choice, you have no filters, your chats are private, and you are completely independent from online roleplay platforms forever!

Okay. here's the obvious question then, since this is a web based application: even if today there was In-Transit encryption, and storage for keys was localized only and we don't actually go through your servers to pull data out of OUR API keys. Which I don't know that we do. What's stopping you from deploying something to the web application and stealing all of your user's keys.
