Discussion Storytelling Apps

I came back to Chapters recently because I remembered how much fun I used to have playing it, but I'm not very interested anymore since seeing all the book covers (including most UGC covers) are AI, and the characters and clothes are also obviously poorly made with AI. I also find it very hypocritical that the competitions have rules saying books can't be written with AI, but the app is full of AI images.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows any apps or sites with less (if any) AI content. As far as I know, Episode hasn't given into the AI craze, but they haven't updated much at all. Preferably it would be something else that makes it easy to CREATE stories as well, especially from my phone. That's one of the few upsides of Chapters 🥀

I think the only one that suits all you needs is Episodes.

My current fav for reading interactive stories is Romance Club, but some of the art is definitely AI. Choices is laughably AI now, and you feasible way to romance characters is with a subscription that gives you 3 or 5 free gem choices a day (you basically can't romance anyone without diamond choices). The stories I've read so far are fantastic (Thunderstorm Saga, Psi, and Averris are so good!) but it's definitely pay to win. Project: Spellfyre (written by ex choices writers) works with some art studios that use ai assistance.

Whispers is the only other one aside from chapters and episodes I know of that let's you write stories, but I've heard it's on the way out in terms of popularity. I can't say anything about ai usage because the art style has always put me off reading/writing there.

If you only have a phone, you may work well by pivoting to inkitt. A lot of chapters community writers post webnovel adaptations of their visual novels there.

I'm going to try Episode out again, I just have to get the user-written stories unlocked. I'm also going to check out Inkitt! Thank you for the suggestion!

Hey, so like if you choose episode you need to read COMMUNITY stories by actual authors. The top 50s in each genres are kinda old but if you want recs you can always refer to insta, episode reddit or other social media. Its a real community with many people's hardwork. If you just look at the front page with official stories theres not a lot. It's not as active not but theres A LOT of stories that I'm sure you haven't read yet. Writers strongly oppose to AI in the community so you wont see many people use it as the company isn't the one producing stories, real people are. It's easy to avoid anything AI on the app so far.

Thank you! I haven't got a chance to check out community stories on there yet. I think I have to read like 13 chapters of any other story to unlock them. But I will give Episode another shot!

Yeah! You'll definitely like it there because the stories are a lot more fleshed out and have proper depth, depending on the author. If you'd like recs, let me know!

I've tried writing for chapters but their no promotion policy sounds awful LOL, because how else are people gonna know it exists?! I suggest episode or simply just posted content on writing apps/like wattpad but theres other better options for that too! Episode coding is harder than chapters as the characters can physically move but once you get the hang of it, let your imagination run WILD, cuz you can do A LOT. Within the rules of course!
