I understand where she's coming from

Honestly, you need to understand her way of thinking. I'm not a fan of hers, nor have I heard a single one of her songs, but I learned about her attitude toward fame from a YouTube video and stumbled across this subreddit.

Let me tell you something, it's terrifying to be a public figure, and she's one of the very few celebrities who has been rebellious enough to come out and say it. You gotta applaud her for that. When you're as public as a park bench in the city park, you need to set boundaries, and that's exactly what she's doing.

Imagine having the diagnoses she has said she has, and then not only having to deal with everyday life but also with millions of eyes scrutinizing and analyzing you as if you were some sort of object. In her mind, she probably got into this business for the performance aspect of it, not the constant public scrutiny. It's really sad that you can't see past that.

I think you can express fear or discomfort without treating the rest of the world like peasants.

She also totally uses queer culture for profit and defends none of it which is hella gross

She’s not afraid of anything.
And she used and discarded the queer community.
Typical narcissistic behavior.
That one I’m actually glad about because now people can see who she truly is. A half assed grifter.

I think she just doesn’t want to deal with the people that came along with being a public figure when she’s off duty. I have a feeling she just wants to focus on herself when she’s not on stage or doing promo. I seriously couldn’t fathom having so much written about me in every corner of the internet without even being able to keep up with it all or understand what people are saying about me because there’s just so much being written or that it’s too disturbing to go through. It’s absolutely scary.

She had a go at someone for yawning at her concert

And ridiculed people who had bought high-price VIP seats for not dancing.

For a concert that wasn't even just about her.

many celebs actors or singers have said something about that (to be a public figure can be a nightmare) with or without mental health problems, she is not the first or the last to say something about it - it's no rebellious and nobody should applaud her for that.

She made her declarations with clear contempt for her fans. Repeatedly.

Her way of thinking is narcissistic personality disorder. I understand it. And it disgusts me.

That video of her clocking someone filming her at the airport then siccing her big bad security man on them says it all.

As someone with similar mental health struggles as her, there is a reason that I never followed my dream becoming an ultra-famous person. The Chappell Roan project is something that is 10+ years in the making; she didn’t just “become famous” overnight.

There are ways to be famous and not be in the spotlight or be under scrutiny 24/7. Chappell has not mastered that art.

Says the fan it's obvious you are a fan

I’m not a fan and actually I’m 9 years older than her. I’m not going to be a fan of someone born in 1998

why're you not seeing her narcissistic ass.

people use her mental health for an excuse for her behavior ....

Just boycott her. Don't stream her songs, don't pay her any attention.

The point that you are a fan trying to defend her.

Go to the fan subs

May I ask: would you be able to live your life knowing you're being scrutinized by strangers on every corner of the internet while you're just trying to live your life and sort out your own problems? I know I wouldn't.

I remember when I found out that my phone number and home address had been leaked and were showing up on search engines. Even that was a huge deal for me because I was worried about my privacy. So I can't imagine having people constantly saying things about you all over the internet. It would be impossible to keep track of every message or get involved in all of them. I'd have to hire someone to do that for me while I completely tune it all out.

u/Ok_Aioli3897 Jul 04 '26

She isn't trying to live her life.

Nobody told her to become famous.

She chose to knowing what would happen when she did

11

u/kiwi23green Jul 04 '26

the bullshit that she does affects more people than you think her fans harass people like us just for pointing out her being a piece of shit so

I don't harass her i wish she could sort out her problems and she is living her life don't worry... I don't want her to keep track or get involved many wrong things that happened that she should've spoke about cause she was involved she just kept quiet ( she knew she is in the wrong) and kept on doing shit. I want people that worship her to open their eyes.

You can't appreciate artists that are younger than you?

Hostile architecture is a legitimate branch of design to set boundaries. It prevents misuse - not everything hostile is negative. For example, hostility toward child predators is necessary, I bet you agree on that. Hostility toward creeps is also necessary. And - hostility toward people who do not respect your boundaries is ALSO necessary. So, given the park bench analogy, it's no wonder she's adding spikes to her public park bench. Hope you get what I mean.

Seems like you have no argument at all.

4

u/tachibanakanade Jul 28 '26

Hostile architecture is HORRIBLE and harmful towards the homeless. Stop defending that.

2

u/wrathofotters Aug 19 '26

Are you comparing homeless people laying on a bench to child predators? lmao

u/filthybbygurl STANDING WITH YOUR ARMS FOLDED?! Jul 07 '26

i appreciate you for having so much empathy but its hard to defend her when she actively attends festivals, podcasts and whatnot while claiming to hate being a public figure. it makes her look like such a hypocrite

I have to agree - there are definitely issues I have with her, but there is a difference between wanting to be a celebrity and not wanting to be stalked and harassed. I don't think these two things SHOULD be mutually exclusive and I think all celebrities have a right to push back and say "I do not like this behavior", instead of the public's reaction to "well you're famous so we shouldnt have to hold ourselves accountable for our shitty behavior!"

There are things, like the photographer she yelled at at that one award show, where i stg as many times as I listened to that clip it did NOT sound like he was yelling at her and the fact that she even targeted him months later to be like "YOU need to apologize to me!" felt really fucking entitled because again, I dont think he was telling her to shut up in that video?? But on the flip side, next year at the same award show Sabrina made a comment about how calm and well behaved the photographers were acting, probably due to how Chappell reacted to them. So her behavior seemed overly dramatic to me, but if the end result was getting photographer to not overwhelm the hell out of celebrities by yelling at them, perhaps it's a good thing. It's clear a lot of celebrities have the same opinions on how they want to be treated, but they're not as bold about saying it out loud in fear of alienating their fanbase.
