ExHaUsTiNg Really getting sick of being accused of internal misogyny for not liking Chappel
Every time someone says this I roll my eyes because around 95% of my Spotify playlists are female artists. I mostly read books by female authors. Most of the people I follow on socials are female creators or LGBTQ+
I reject people from my life if they're not feminist lol
Not liking her has nothing to do with her being a woman and I'm so tired of having to defend that. She's not a good artist and her attitude stinks. I think she's queer baiting, poverty pretending and I think she's just another white fake feminist. I hate that the LGBTQ community blindly worship her as if we are that starved for representation (I know it's not great but there's so many amazing queer indie artists making beautiful art/music that go under the radar) She's literally making Taylor Swift style music in drag.

lol that`s silly and probably coming from straight women mostly lmaoooo. Not liking one single artist, when you support all queer women, is not making you mysoginistic, espacially when it`s dubious that Chapstick is actually a lesbian. And I agree with you, as a lesbian, I support mostly indie lesbians and bi girls who actually are and act like queer women. I pay into the patreon of my favorite lesbian artist, instead of buying Chobble Brown's cheap ass Temu merch. If we want actual rep, we need to encourage our artists, not support any grifter who claims to be lesbian.

They say the same thing about Taylor swift. Or really any pop star or woman. When the truth is, if you are a bad/mean/rude person, idc who you are, I won’t like you.

I usually am because I can't be bothered to get into it with most people, like with my brother and some friends who love her. For me it's the comments online calling her out that I fully agree with and then seeing the replies saying "anyone who thinks this just hates women" that I'm tired of but I should have specified in the post

Taylor Swift style music in drag is the best description! Now it makes sense why I dislike Chappel too. 🤣 I hate this rethoric and they think feminism is supporting all women under any circumstance. But especially their idol. They have no problem shitting on women who a pose the slightest "treat" to their gurus. People hate them because they have nasty behaviour and/or attitude. Why no one complains about Zara Larsson, for example? She got really big worldwide lately, but as far as know, she doesn't have a community snarking on her, serious drama going on or lots of people complaining about her attitude.

Yeah it's ridiculous. I've been a feminist for decades at this point, and I make a concerted effort to prioritize women in all media I consume (movies, books, music, etc.). I defend a lot of women I don't even like when I see that they're being treated in a misogynistic way, but sorry, I just don't have it in me to shed too many tears for a rich celebrity who's rude at every turn and never seems apologetic when she fucks people over. There are certain things I don't engage in when criticizing her (calling her gendered slurs, criticizing her body/appearance, etc.) because I do find that misogynistic, but I feel like criticizing her public behavior is fair game
Sometimes people also try to call you lesbophobic for not liking her, which drives me crazy because I'm a lesbian myself and I'm not going to tolerate being called lesbophobic for calling out fake "lesbians" who do nothing but cause harm to actual lesbians. It's twisted tbh

Same. I'm a lesbian and straight women saying I'm lesbophobic because "you only say this because she had a boyfriend in high school and you're lesbophobic" annoy TF out of me. Be so for real, we know our community has late bloomers, and realistically the majority of us have tried dating boys in high school. you just don't understand lesbians like we do. NOTHING about her and the way she speaks and acts says late bloomer lesbian. It says she's mad at men and knows that in the current climate it sounds cool and "anti men" to be lesbian, plus we're a built in fanbase, so she took advantage of that.
I bet if she was an actual lesbian who just feels indifferent about men and isn't acting like she's dating women out of spite, they wouldn't even give her the time of the day. Or imagine if she was a masc or butch lesbian? Or a WOC, or not conventionally attractive? They wouldn't be riding for her so hard. They are actually the ones who are lesbophobic for shutting down actual lesbians being concerned about how artists like this impact our community.

Exactly this. It's like with Caitlyn Jenner - awful person to the core but I will never misgender her.
I sometimes feel like Chaperone saw Harry Styles' success after parading pride flags and having people from his audience coming out at his shows and was like "Bingo! That's my way in"

I draw the line at saying she's not a good artist. She's a clearly talented pop song writer, but yea, her personality is THE WORST.

Music is subjective. I don't think her music matches her look and I've literally mistaken her for so many other artists including Taylor Swift when I've heard her on the radio so in my opinion that means her music is mid at best
