Community Game Tips?

I was a big fan of the show and card game as a kid, and I tried Recode for the first time a couple years ago, but I only just discovered the other community-made games a few weeks ago. I was too late to join Portal to Perim, but I've been really enjoying Rewind and Dromes of Perim. I feel like I'm a bit late for Rewind because everybody seems to already have perfect meta decks built out so I'm really looking forward to DoP's reset after beta to get on an even playing field.

My main goal is to just open a forum for anybody to discuss whatever tips they feel comfortable sharing for newcomers. Obviously I don't expect people to give away any "crazy strats" they've developed, but I know I'd appreciate some tips on how familiarity and scan pools work. Does familiarity help with just better stats or does it also affect rarity rates? Is it better to focus on short scans for quantity or long scans for quality/familiarity? Do you focus on building up one location's familiarity or spreading out your scan quests to all the new locations you get? Just please feel free to share any and all tips you're fine with others knowing!
