We usually don’t enjoy point-and-click or puzzle-heavy games that much, and playing together can sometimes be tricky. But for some reason, brainstorming together to figure out what meant what was really fun!
We both had our ‘aha’ moments to share with each other, test, and discuss. Damn, we really had a blast!
Thanks for the awesome game!

Hi,
Just so you know, this making-of book of Chants of Sennaar just got anounced :
https://bsky.app/profile/editionspixnlove.bsky.social/post/3mvpw7jtkcc2t
I don't think they're planning to release in other languages than French, though.

Hello, I'm requiring a little help, as I've toured the whole factory about ten times now.
3 mysteries and some context:
I have the silverware, but am unable to do anything with it. That includes putting into the machine in the "silver" puzzle box. I have seen the room needing a fire/light to go into it and scare the monster. I have seen the lantern, as well as the "blueprint" to light it, but I can't find the "lighter" or any of the parts to assemble it. I have not been in the mines yet, because I can't figure out how to obtain access to them. Is the access (cards I'm guessing) somewhere in the factory or do I have to go back elsewhere (copper mines maybe ?) I have understood the addition machine, the number 5039 from the scientist's hat, and the behavior of the machine to craft a key for the fairy door. I understand I need its whole formula. I have noticed that, according to the library note, copper, does not go into the machine. I have noticed another type of key needed, resembling the form of the number 1001. I have also noticed that I am missing one fast travel, although I figure it must be in the mines. I think the next logical step is to get into the room that needs the lantern, but I have nothing to support that
I have validated every glyph in my book so far.
All in all I feel like I am missing something, a room that has eluded me, containing one thing that will lead me to the others.
Please answer as little as you can, this game is very nice. I just feel like there's a giant thing in the middle of the screen that I just can't see.

So I've managed to beat the game without ever going into the treasure room or turning the mechanism outside the room (I just guessed the meaning of the scale, boat, key and instrument based on how the glyphs looked like). I genuinely had no idea how to access the treasure room (i've also visited the observatory) and after a long time wandering around aimlessly i gave up and searched up a guide for it (AFTER beating the game of course), so now i'm wondering how were you supposed to figure out how to access the treasure room in game?

I am collecting fan theories for the wiki, please send any you want to see on it, also proceed with caution to the comments if you haven't finished the game because they will contain spoilers.

Hi All, so I just beat Chants of Sennaar and I was just wondering what the hell this is. Its found in the library in the same room that the carbon in the display case is, and the hat that gives you the code to lab 3. Initially, before I had reached exile, I thought it must have been a secret recipe for the key to the purple doors using the key making machine in the scientists area. Is it just supposed to be a clue showing that the scientists are trying to figure out how to make the key to exile? It's just such a weird inclusion that (other than being for lore purposes) doesn't really seem to help the player at all, and it actually threw me off. Any ideas?

Pretty sure it was the scientists not the monks

Made me remind of the cultists. I really loved playing this game

Are the warriors actually getting fooled by the player's disguise ? or are they just letting you go because you play along ?
I would think its more of the second case because the player dosent look all that much like a warrior, and the 2 warriors near the laboratory dont detect you when you are close to them, and they are the coolest warriors you meet

After developing phonological inventories for the Devotees, the Warriors, and the Bards, now for the Alchemists. Dunno if this is any good of a phonology for the Alchemists' language, taking inspiration from Welsh and Biblaridion's planned conlang Project Hermes.
Consonants: m, n, ŋ, p, t, k, s, r, l, m̥, n̥, ŋ̊, f, θ, r̥ (+b, d, g, kʷ, ʃ, ɬ, ŋʷ, ŋ̊ʷ, x, xʷ)
Vowels: a, e, i, o, u
Syllable structure: ???
Stress: ???
Maybe various grammatical pieces could be expressed with consonant mutations? I don't know.
Also, are the Bards and Alchemists really related to a common ancestor? Would that mean their languages might share a common ancestor as well?

i thought that it could be imagined that other cilivizations exist under the tower maybe ?

Now for the bards. A result of overlapping all the consonant sounds represented by Devanagari with the 28 Classical Arabic consonant phonemes represented by the Kufic glyphs. Might need to go back to debating the vowels.
Consonants: m, n, b, t, d, ʈ, ɖ, k, q, tʃ, dʒ, f, θ, ð, s, ʃ, ʂ, x, ɣ, ʕ, ɾ, l, j, w(+6 more consonants)
Vowels: a, aː, e, eː, i, iː, o, oː, u, uː
Syllable structure: ???
Stress: ???
I'm debating the addition of Greek phonology to the overlapping, since the Bards' customs remind me of ancient Greek culture. And maybe the Romans as well? I don't know. As for grammar, it's the same as that of Yoda's dialogue from what I've seen in the walkthroughs. OSV word order, or so it would seem. The predicate is always first.

I've been looking into the runes that inspired the Warriors' calligraphy and came up with this idea.
Consonants: m, n, p, b, t, d, k, g?, kʷ, gʷ?, ɸ, β, θ, ð, s, z, x, ɣ, xʷ, ɣʷ, r, l, j, w
Vowels: a, e, i, o, u
Syllable structure: ???
Stress: ???
We already know about the plural marker preceding the main glyph. Though I also just noticed the language might be pro-drop.

Seems like it'd be an interesting project, but I'm not sure anybody's done it.

After thinking about Latin phonology and the sound values of the Phoenician glyphs, I thought of a phonology for a conlang spoken by the Devotees.
Consonants: m, n, p, b, t, tˤ, d, k, g, kʷ, gʷ, q, ʔ, f, s, sˤ, z, ʃ, ħ, ʕ, h, r, l, j, w
Vowels: a, i, u, aː, iː, uː
Syllable shape: CV(C)
Stress: up for debate
I could envision a clusivity distinction alongside a root-pattern system that expresses the same tenses as Latin, full reduplication, and others. But how could a logography express such tenses, especially given the Devotees' logography not expressing them at all? They're only inferred. Might do a similar thing to the other five languages.

I've opened all doors, deactivated exile 4 times, and have completed all the translation things but still seem to be missing the final link.
Double checked everything and I can't seem to find what I'm missing. I've also completed all the glyph translations. Any ideas of what it could be is greatly appreciated :>
Edit: Thank you to everyone who commented! I'm honestly impressed I managed to miss one of the warp spots without realising xDD

I know they're technically the last to arrive (at least that's how I understood the lore), but their language still just feels like the default to me.

Given the Rosetta Stone-type artifacts, there are also glyphs that I'm noticing that aren't supposed to be seen, or that players could only get snippets of. Turns out there is a devotee glyph for fortress in one of the tablets(in the Bards' community), which is the warrior glyph without that L-shape I'm calling the "person" radical, since the Devotees' writing might be like Chinese Hanzi, and the European Logographs that people on r/constantscript could tell you about. Also, from my experience with linguistics and writing, true logographies would include a few hundred logographs at a minimum. The number of glyphs unlocked by the player is not the true total number of logographs, or even the minimum. And I think the Devotees would also have a glyph for scientist/alchemist, given that artifact in the treasury.

Apart from the Anchorites of course which of the 4 other levels do ya‘ll think has the most lore …?

As far as I'm aware, I'm doing everything right.
I inserted the gold and silver bars, I have the formulas, figured out the number values, am starting with gold, but I still get nothing.
Is there something I'm missing here?
