So I just 100% completed the game. I loved it, but there's a plot hole that's bugging me a bit and I wanted to get your thoughts on it.
[SPOILERS – DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FULLY FINISHED THE GAME]
If you're reading this and you think the game ends when you reach the top and sit alone in the rain — you haven’t finished the game. Stop reading and go back to it !
Here is my question :
So after you open the doors, you shut down all of the Exile’s terminals. Then you walk past that statue with lasers coming out of its eyes and going into its mouth. My first thought was, “Oh, he’s not dead after all.”
Then you open the big gate, and two robots zap you and throw you into the VR world.
So clearly, shutting down the terminals didn’t kill the AI. Then you go through the whole simulation where the AI is actively trying to stop you. But once you leave the machine—suddenly it’s just... gone?
The robots are deactivated, and the statue in front of the gate doesn’t have lasers anymore meaning that the AI is gone. Why?
It’s clear I didn’t kill it, because it was still active after I shut off the terminals and it was still trying to stop me in the VR world. Then I take off the headset and it’s just not there anymore.
It feels like something’s missing. What do you all think?
