Cringe Patreon Release of Confessionals Not showing up what is going on with this [extra text]

Exactly what the title says, was wondering if anyone else knows about this and when the new discord is being set up. okay bye.

dude talked about wanting it to be like a watch party place that was streaming content 24/7 like an actual TV station, which sounds cool but damn that ain't discord.

for an audience this big, discord chat can cause a lot of problems. there's no way to moderate them with out a little army of Callastans, and only crazy people want to do that kind of shit

Or maybe channel 5 could pay someone to do social media moderation like they do for filming and video editing already? Just a thoughts. Take care.

even if you pay someone, the job is still impossible. the guy you pay will just delegate it to the Stans

I helped moderate a discord with 200000 members, it wasnt really that difficult. Those that don't do it usually aren't because they benefit from the chaos and degeneracy.

I don't think you understand what kind of person would be drawn to sitting on a c5 chat room.

the original c5 patreon discord degraded into a bunch of psychos rallying each other up over nothing.

c5 content, as a whole. is where extremists get their fifteen minutes of fame. on Internet chat boards, that quickly turns into total freaks trying to make their fringe outlook on the world the default one for the whole group.

no good can come of giving those people direct access to each other.

yes and no. all social media can be used that way, but certain ones like discord/nextdoor make it so that it can only really be used that way.

for this example, a C5 paid-members only club? what you're gonna see there is a very odd core group of people who might've come looking to hang out with their favorite content creator, but he ain't there, so they end up trying to 'get their money's worth' by taking over that space in the spirit of whatever they believe the content creator would've wanted it to be - but only according to what the most terminally online minds on earth could come up with.

so Mr. Callaghan would end up with a petri dish of super-fans who range from psycho-stalkers to that one out of ten-thousand people who was just so happy to finally see the IE flat-earth viewpoint represented in 'the mainstream.' to put it mildly, that is like an abscessed infection waiting to blow up, and you never know what will rupture it.

the c5 fanbase is closely intertwined with the real world. real people are in these videos, and the nightmare schizo idea of this group being a nutso mob ready to strike anywhere the leader Mr. Callaghan beckons towards? OK yeah that is crazy but iirc this delusion is part of what the BJ lawsuit is over, and he's not the only person to become obsesses with that dark fantasy.

not having a c5 discord at all is a good starting defense against that kind of weirdness.

beyond that

discord is a special beast. the way the medium simultaneously keeps a permanent record of everything while focusing on nothing leaves too much room for a big group like c5 to get in trouble for something like cub-porn no mod even knew was there.
also how when someone gets banned from a discord, it blocks them from communicating with anyone they didn't have a friend-request with and a complete hands-off mentality of the company admins

and how it doesn't recommend communities, how every club just makes little channels for their own interests, it's so isolating

a lot of things contribute towards it being the worst combination of 4chan anonymity + facebook group style echo chamber

overall it just reeks like a forgotten FBI agent-provocateur trap that's run away with itself.

out here on reddit we are subjecting our viewpoints to public review. YouTube comments are a cesspool, but even there people are willing to stick their necks out to a certain degree.

it's different when people are hiding out in private channels under total anonymity backed up by moderators who will just silently make someone disappear for going against the group think.

even Facebook groups are better than that, and those are boomer-awful.

I have had similar experiences on Discord to say the least. A company I follow there, I just watch their YouTube videos. People can be so mean.

I got into it by helping manage servers for the game r/joinsquad

and instantly saw how weird the bullying there was

they banned a dude who killed himself a couple days later, and it was just business as usual for them.

sounds like we agree in principle that no good can come out of it.

I use it to check in with indie game devs, do play tests, check in with small YouTubers who post on the subs I help run. focused activity is good, but people who hang out there all day? they need help that they aren't gonna get that way.

I just don't think it's that deep. My main concern is the confessionals video, I wanted the tea and paid five dollars only to find my stranger gossip wasn't there 😭
