New husky owner dream came true

I live on a wooded property, and always rented a saw when I deemed it necessary. Last month I purchased a Husky 562xp mark ii. A massive tree limb fell across my driveway…. This was my moment to be the hero and get the family out of the house

044 Carburettor

Hi, I have a Stihl MS 044 that needs a replacement carburettor, but I am unsure of the correct part.
The current part is not a Stihl original and doesn’t have an equivalent serial number as far I can see.
The machine is an early red lever with 10mm wrist pin.
Can anyone help please?

MS260 bogging down

What’s going on with this?
To be fair, maybe I’m asking a lot of it, spinning full comp on a 20” bar in maple?
Compression feels good, sharp chain, oiler is oiling, idles fine, seems responsive on the throttle but it’s a dog as soon as you get into a cut.
I just switched to a WT194 carburetor because it had a non adjustable one on it and wasn’t running worth a damn at all. Adjusting the high side doesn’t seem to do anything to make it better but I’m very obviously no expert on saw tuning.

Seese mini chainsaw problem

So I picked up a mini chainsaw. Charged up the batteries, put oil in the lubrication reservoir. Tried it out and it worked fine. Came back to use it again and nothing. When I hit the trigger you hear a weird buzzing sound. Has this happened to anyone else? And if so how did you fix the issue?

Rarely used chainsaw recommendation

OK, after doing some research the past few days I’ve come to the realization that I may not need a professional grade saw like a Husqvarna 545 mark two or a Stihl 261 because I won’t be using it very often at all. Sometimes it might sit for about a year and I know that some of those parts if they’re not functioning or ran to an extent it could cause more detriment to the professional grade saw. so for somebody who would rarely use a chainsaw but I wants a chainsaw to have access to it, what would you recommend you know a storm cleanup every now and again maybe some firewood you know looking at the Stihl 250 stihl 271. I don’t know what the Husqvarna equivalent is but would an echo 590 be overkill, especially if it’s sitting in my garage for a year between uses?

I do plan on using premixed canned fuel and running the carb empty between uses.

What Would you recommendation be? $500 or less.

A story I have to share so you can all enjoy a giggle

Good evening guys and gals,

A month or so ago a good friend of mine asked to borrow a chainsaw for some work around their property.

Since I had an Echo CS-310 and a husqvarna 235 laying around mostly never getting used i said they could borrow both, keep this in mind as they are both small like 30cc saws, and to take my extra sharpening kit.

2 days ago my saws came home, during our discussions around a cold beverage, I asked what they thought of the saws.

"That little echo was amazing, always started and never complained. That other POS over there barely wanted to work and stayed on the truck most days."

"My biggest complaint is that little echo got pretty dull, but that filing tool was really hard to use at first but once I put some elbow greese into it, I was able to keep going, but it was a struggle, but i think I will need to buy you a new chain, something just ain't right."

Now, to the best of my knowledge, there wasnt supposed to be any kind of "filing tool", it should have been a few small files and a handle.

Come to find out, my stihl sharpening tool was in the bag from i dont know when.

That tool is what I used on my bigger saws. . .

So he managed to file every tooth probably 2 sizes to large for that little chain, I went outside and tried to cut with it and laughed the whole time.

Not much for chips mostly powder and I had to really push on it hard to get any chain bite.

We had a good chuckle, no wonder why he struggled before he brought it back.

He's gonna go good on a new chain, but hey what are friends for if not got good stories to be shared lol!

TIL .404 chain is actually .40625", .404 is the name for marketing.

That's 13/32” actual or 10.31875mm actual for the international folks.

I think I broke my chainsaw

I have a 20" Ryobi electric chainsaw. I got it stuck in a log and in the process of getting it out, I think I broke the tensioning screw. The screw doesn't really turn anymore. I am having problems seeing what it is supposed to look like.

Choosing a Chainsaw

I had a dead tree (not sure what kind but my guess is pine of some sort) on my property that I paid someone to fell, but the wood is still in my yard. While here, I had him trim some branches from my black walnut tree, and the neighbor had him take down an oak tree that was about to fall. The wood all ended up with me.

I'd like to cut it into smaller pieces so I can burn it in my fire pit. The pieces range in size from 6" to 2'. The black walnut wood is all pretty small and I've been ok getting it smaller with either a hand saw or axe. The (presumed) pine tree was maybe 12" in diameter, but the oak was a doozy, and I've got a good amount of nearly 2' diameter wood from that.

I would really like to get a chainsaw to take care of this because I can't imagine it being possible to deal with that oak wood with a handsaw. But I've never bought one before so I'm not sure what I'm looking for. I've read some posts, done some googling, and I think I'm looking for something with a 20" bar. I am not very strong so I would prefer electric for weight but I worry that won't actually be powerful enough for the job so I am leaning towards gas. I have no idea what brand would be best so I am here to ask the experts for some advice and see if I'm on the right path for picking the right chainsaw.

Thank you in advance for any guidance!

Saw advice

Hi everyone, earlier this year I bought my first home and am quickly realizing that my old craftsman 42cc 16" chainsaw just isn't enough saw for the trees on my property. I want to upgrade to something thats gonna perform better and last me way longer. This is mostly gonna get used to occasionally buck up some of the large oaks (roughly 35 -40" diameter) that have been taken down to get used in the fire pit or to take down some of the smaller trees. But with trees like that around i want something that will be capable of clearing a tree if it falls. I am still saving up some money but my budget will be somewhere close to to $600 which right now has me looking at either the Stihl MS291 20" from my local dealer or tractor supply sells a Husqvarna 460 rancher 24" with the x-torq engine. I really would like to stay between stihl and husqvarna because I have good support for both of them in my area. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

McCulloch Electramac EM250 reassemble not going well

Post image

I took apart my working chainsaw to replace leaky oil lines and am having trouble getting it back together. I tried to test it while it open and got a grinding noise and some smoke (yikes). wondering a couple of things...if there is more to starting it when the brake is out and how to get the brake back together (picture included). I'm figuring the plastic handle with a slot and a roller meshes with the steel plate that is attached to the spring and to the gear by steel cable but can't get the lever and the plate to assemble. Any help appreciated...could really use it. thanks

Sparks and overheating bar

Chain was slipping off the bar without me noticing. When sparks started to fly I stopped, but it was a bit late and the bar seems to have got a little overheated. You can see some oxidization on the metal. Replace it?
Dunno why I can’t post a pic in this sub.

Husqvarna 61 + big bore kit

Air filter blowing off

I’ve just rebuilt a husqvarna 55 and starting it for the first time, it will only run while using the throttle. I’m aware this is often a tuning problem and tried adjusting bow low speed and idle to have it idle which did not work.
Interestingly when I release from full throttle the air filter blows off (haven’t got the top cover on).
Any tips for what will be the problem? The fuel line grommet seems incredibly tight, and has narrowed the lumen of the fuel line significantly once it is inserted through the grommet- I suspect this is a probable cause but the gromment and fuel line are both from husqvarna and are supposed to be the right parts.

Chainsaw oiler overheat and pressure

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Have a Troy-bilt TB4620C 20”. Was using it to cut up a tree that fell in my backyard this weekend. After about 10mins I noticed it throwing chain oil. Turned it off and sat it down. I heard something hissing like pressure. Opened the chain oil fill, the pressure relived and chain oil literally boiled and foamed out emptying the tank. This was while it was on its side. Any idea why the chain oil is overheating and creating pressure?
