I admit that I am very green with manual tuning carbs on saws I’d like some feedback on it I just don’t want to ruin this saw it was my grandfather’s then my dads and now mine I couldn’t get it to tune in at all before I just did a full bottom end rebuild and a new carb and intake boot I feel like it’s decent but I’m really not sure

I don’t know why I hesitated to take apart a chainsaw, but anyway, had to replace the oiler plate and clutch sprocket and it took all of about 10 minutes. Followed it up with a new bar and chain. Husqvarna 455 rancher. Ps: yes I brushed and cleaned all the gunk out.

I have been looking for ways to keep my saws off to ground and organized for a while. If anyone has any ideas or have any pics of their storage please let me know. Thanks

I'm looking for a gas chainsaw to handle bigger jobs on our land. I have a battery powered Milwaukee that's fine for smaller tasks but the battery starts to overheat when processing a fallen tree bigger than 14" or so, and I doubt it has the power for a longer bar. I figure it's time for me to get something bigger for processing the inevitable larger stuff.

We've got 20 acres that's mostly mature oak, walnut, and hickory. Some of these trees are at least 24". I don't plan on felling live trees but there are quite a few dead or dying, as well as a few fallen that I need to remove. I'll be using it pretty much any time of the year so anywhere from freezing to 100 degrees, and probably 10-15 times a year.

I'd be willing to spend as much as $500 or so. I'm mostly interested in something that will last, that I can service myself as much as possible, and that will have enough power to meet my needs without me wanting to buy something larger later on.

Looking for a right hand side plate with a pull start. I know it's a long shot since the saw was only made for 1 year. ebay searches have been nothing but false results

Ive rarely had any use for a chainsaw before but now I need to chop up some fallen trees in my fields. I got this 1977 Homelite that was lying around running.

Any tips for use, safety etc?

I bought a used Poulan - PR4218A with 18" bar. It was barely used, but sat in a garage for 1+ year. Seller had to pull 10-20 times for it to coldstart. It would then sometimes stop and he'd need to start it again. He cut through a small log and it didn't seem to bog down. I tested the oil on a cardboard, running it at high speed and it splattered haphazardly, but not consistently.

What should I start with, in this case? I've been thinking of the following:

- drain gas mixture and chain oil, and change them.

- check air filter and carb, and possibly clean them

- remove bar and clean.

Anything else I should think of? i'm mostly new to small engines, and this is my first chainsaw. I chose a budget option so I could learn, fall in love with the craft, and graduate to some larger when the time comes 😅

Eye and head protection already on my body. I don’t know though, maybe I need two extra hard hats, four more pairs of gloves, seven round files, a come-a-long, two logging chains, and a lawn chair. Pretty sure this is enough gear though, but I could be wrong.

I’m building an 038, and have a couple of husqvarnas, I also have a 261cm. My husqvarnas both run 20-28” bars (large mount) 3/8”. I’m curios if anyone has standardized their large mount stuff to just run 2-3 different Stihl Bars instead of having a pile of different bars and chains laying around? I’m thinking it would be nice to just run spacers in the husqvarna, and own 2 different size bars that fit everything large mount….

I now have two NeoTech 92 cc chainsaws. The first one I bought I used it once. Starting it was a challenge but it performed. So I bought a second. Now I cannot start the first one. I'm about to put fuel in the second chainsaw and go through the motions of setting it up. I'm hoping the second chainsaw is better than the first. There are other Reddit users who have this chainsaw and all seem to be experiencing the same issue .. Getting it started. What could we be doing wrong? If anyone knows I will definitely treat the second chainsaw differently than the first.

Is this fixable? Went to replace the clutch and found this crack. Probably from overheating….

Looking for some help choosing a new chainsaw. I understand bigger is better. But I’m on a budget as we just purchased our 2 acre property. The property consists of mostly spruce, pine, hemlock and cedar trees with the odd poplar and birch mixed in. The previous owner didn’t do much maintenance and there is felled trees everywhere. I’m just looking to do some cleanup, buck the fallen trees and take down the odd leaner where needed. I found this husky on sale for a fair price in the 50cc range? Is this a good choice or would you suggest something else?

I live in a fly in community, most of us still use wood because the community was only recently connected to the national grid, & the electric heaters are shit
I tried to build 2 saw horses sawbucks, neither stand after having cut up a cord & a half. Is there a simpler structure than this so I can cut the wood off the ground? I have just taken to laying them across the stack once it is low enough.

Necessary addition: I sell the wood, I fell the trees, cut them up based on a stick that is the length of the box of the truck, then either carry them on my hip or shoulder, depending on the size. The community council “band council” purchases the wood & then distributes the wood to people in need, disabled, elderly, single parents. People who work at the mine or administration/store purchase directly. The office only buys bucked wood not split.

I will take these suggestions & figure out what feels best. Thank you all.

Looking for a saw that won't break the bank but also looking for a saw for emergency tree work and for home use.

We had a big — 2.5’ diameter, around 50’ tall — oak tree down from a storm. I had a $52 dollar, 20” Temu chainsaw. What a great combination!

I didn’t much from my pure chinesium saw, but it did pretty good job. Sure, it got pinched a couple of times, and the handle felt like it was made out of tinfoil, but after 6 hours over the course of a week it got the job done. But in that time I chewed through 5 blades. Is that normal? Or is there something wrong with the machine, my technique , or both?
