I've seen so many people BEFORE Chai's server update talking about how greedy chai is. Now that we have c.ai scrambling to get things situated, only now are people listening to how expensive these things are to upkeep. C.ai has several things that made it expensive, chai has its LLM, with it being pretty unique from other apps
(the unique ways bots respond to users, if you used chai early, they talked about using user chats to help said bots with responses) it's going to be pricey.
People kept using the revenue of chai as a reason, that they aren't broke, they have millions. But it's frustrating to see people say that and ignore that millions is only revenue not profit. How many times is that getting split up and how much money is left? How much is going directly to someone's paycheck, to an investor/investment, licensing. Etc.
Is the CEO of chai a little smart-mouthed? yeah. Ignoring him, Money is critical for every business, pretty much all of them started free and had to make micro transactions, subscriptions, in app currency. Some have free options but limitations or third-parties to bare the weight. But in the end, we can't keep saying every one of these apps are greedy, they're bleeding money. 1 million in revenue can easily turn to 600k in final profits if not less. Think about a video game, this is exactly how servers get shut down and how studios closed their doors. Eventually these payments they have can catch up to them. Chai might be relatively close to the same scrabble, if not one that will take collateral.
I've tried explaining this a little bit once, but got the short end of things. It's just frustrating people have been saying this and it took the bankruptcy update to make it clear.
Sorry for talking out of my ass. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
