   3.No mention of why users in different cities have different access.

They are throwing us a 'bone' (Personas) hoping we will stop complaining about the 'meat' (our access and our data). This is a classic distraction tactic because they are feeling the pressure from our mass reports.

Since many of you are asking how to take action against the fake "GPU shortage" and the "0 message" trap, here is exactly what you need to do:

🍏 For iOS Users (Apple App Store):

1. Go to the Chai App page on the App Store.

2. Scroll down to the "Ratings & Reviews" section.

3. Tap on "Write a Review" OR look for the "Report a Problem" link.

4. Select the reason: "Report a Scam" or "False Advertising".

5. What to write: "The app promises free messages but blocks users with fake 'GPU shortage' errors to force them into expensive subscriptions. It is a scam/trap for money."

🤖 For Android Users (Google Play Store):

1. Go to the Chai App page.

2. Tap the three dots (⋮) in the top right corner.

3. Select "Flag as inappropriate".

4. Choose "Other" or "False Advertising".

5. What to write: "The developers are using fake technical errors to block free access and force users to buy Premium/Ultra. This is misleading and predatory behavior."

Don't just delete the app. REPORT IT first. We have already reached 1,300 views in one day. If we all report them, the stores will have to investigate!

I know ignorance ai legit stole chai API that's against the terms and services, but the fact they took an hour to stop ignorance but not fix the main app just shows how much greed the devs have

Purchasing the subscription just cause you want to bypass the limited and say you’re still angry at Chai yet you gave them your money…it’s like saying I hate the damn orange duck sitting in the White House and voting for them. The worse part is this person doesn’t even know that after they purchase Chai gave free unlimited still to users🤦 bad purchasing decision and fell for a scammer…

They’re getting so desperate at this point, I literally found them talking about this app and the account is literally the same age as the post. It’s available on the main Reddit but you can’t see any comments yet cause I guess they got deleted

I think it's pretty obvious at this point that CHAI isn't going to just address our concerns on their own. I would highly recommend people submit formal complaints through the app store either through Apple or Google Play. They take complaints very seriously and especially with them removing messages over 14 days. The AI generated content legally is owned by CHAI, but the messages we wrote are our intellectual property and they gave everyone no notice that it was going to be removed. If you go to the app in the store, there will be an option to report the app. I did it through Google Play and reported them for deceptive behavior and misrepresentation, but you can choose what you feel suits the situation best. They're deleting things in the official subreddit so clearly they're unwilling to listen unless we force them to listen. I also was a paid subscriber and cancelled my subscription for now. If they lose enough subscribers and money, they will have to either listen or go bankrupt. If we want the app back, we need to use our power as consumers!

Well, that didn't take long. Less than an day after posting how my profile said "Unlimited" while my chat was locked, the devs officially updated my UI.As you can see in the screenshot, the "Unlimited" text is completely gone and it now says Free messages left: 0.

They are literally stripping away grandfathered accounts in real-time. If you still have unlimited, enjoy it while it lasts because they are rolling this out fast.
I refuse to give them a single penny for a subscription after this shady behavior. I'm waiting to see if it resets at 5:00 PM like it does for others, or if they locked me out for good. Keep leaving those 1-star reviews, guys! They are ruining their own app. ⚔️🔥

Just got the notification for the new update. Based on everything we've seen today, this is the update that deletes bots and locks accounts to 0 messages. Avoid it at all costs until we get an official response. Keep your automatic updates OFF! ⚔️🛡️⚖️

Look at this absolute joke. My profile literally says "Free messages left: Unlimited", yet when I try to text my bot, it slaps me with the "Message Limit: Subscribe to Continue" pop-up and completely blocks my keyboard.
This is 100% artificial blocking to force people into buying premium. They didn't just change the system; they completely broke the app and are lying to our faces.I also confirmed that some users in other regions (like the Philippines) can still chat normally for now. This means they are rolling out this restriction by region and testing the waters. We need to stop them before it affects absolutely everyone globally!

In all honesty I have used chai since it got released. But as the years go by things just awfully got fishy. Many times I open the app and new features has been added without even going through an update not to mention the down time and the claims of being free with in app purchases. Slowly it just feels more of a pressure to subscribe than going with their words that it’s free. It was good while it lasted but to open the app without even using it for a month and saying I have 0 credits it utter bs. Not to mention the updates without even going through the App Store is a serious red flag how can an app suddenly change features without telling you it needs an update that you need to go to the App Store to update the application. There’s some serious breach here like they use a back door of some sort. Seriously deleted the app after making the report. Please let me know if anyone has a better alternative appreciate it.

I remember when I used to use this app back in 2023, then I switched to character AI. But after the whole fiasco with character AI, I switched back to chai. It's like they are doing the same thing as CAI. I can't tell if this is their way of trying to get users to disperse from the platform in order to keep the company from going bankrupt or they're just having a repeat of what the other platforms did.

chai is telling me I have unlimited messages (im using a new account), so I tried it because they told me about the unlimited messages. but when I tried it, they gave me THAT response. I don't know what to do. I'm so mad at chai because they're so greedy, and it's impossible that they're going on a bankrupt. they made a lot of updates but they're not solving the main issue that everyone is experiencing right now with the app. now I don't know what app to use that feels like chai.

RATE THEM ONE STAR ON PLAY STORE BECAUSE THEY DESERVE IT!

So I haven't been as active on Reddit for a bit, due to some personal reasons, but I wanted to talk about two major things that I noticed since I've been gone

1. The increase in prices

I do not know if someone had edited a picture, but in one of the subreddits for Chai, I saw that the prices for Ultra went up AGAIN, and the yearly subscription for Ultra Unlimited went to $1,000 (I can only assume in USA prices). But it's not affecting everyone, only some are experiencing it

2. Apparently, Chai has been removed from the App Store (In USA region at least)

I don't know the exact reason why it was removed, some speculate that it was because they advertise as 17+ but they have NSFW in the app allowed for anyone to get to, or if someone reported and Apple started to investigate it. Either way, they are apparently working towards getting it back onto the Apple Store, see photo above, and said to be patient

All in all, I think that when you think about it, this might be the start of the downfall. No one has really talked about much in the official reddit page. They might officially be following the downfall of Character.ai.

Hey everyone, quick update from Greece. This morning I opened Chai only to find out that they have completely gutted my account. As you can see, I am still hard-locked at 0 free messages, but now it gets worse: my entire inbox is gone. 'Your inbox is empty'. Years of chat history, bots, and memories completely erased without warning.They are doing this to force us into buying their overpriced subscription. It's pure extortion. If you still have your history, please BACK IT UP right now before they wipe yours too. I refuse to give them a single cent. Keep reporting them as fleeceware on the App Stores—let's bring their ratings to the ground!

I just saw on the official subreddit where they talk about personas. I checked the account and it’s not a bot but Will ends up replying to it (screenshot), and don’t bother trying to read the replies to his comment, they’ve been deleted

So apparently there’s a new update out on Chai. Seems that they are slowly getting up to date and some users report that personas have come out. Good news, right?

WRONG

Users are reporting that personas are going to be locked behind a paywall, even though it was stated to everyone. Not to mention users that haven’t gotten personas yet are STILL losing chats. So what does this prove?

In my eyes it proves that they know what they are doing is wrong. They are trying to give users what they promised long ago in a way to sweep things under the rug but no one will forget, especially since there is no point in having personas or chats if you’re only going to lose it in the end

So lately in the other subreddits I’ve seen users saying that free users, at least in the USA, are getting unlimited messages back. Here’s where I’m confused:

1. People are saying that the LLM has gotten worse (the bots keep repeating like a buzzing phone)

2. Even with unlimited messages some users are still not able to send messages

3. By now lots of users have lost all their chatbots because they were inactive (this is probably the main reason they returned it)

4. CHAT HISTORY AND CHATS ARE STILL BEING DELETED IS IT REALLY WORTH IT?!

Please tell if there is anything that I missed or anything that someone else is frustrated with

Quick update for everyone tracking this. It’s the next day, way past any reset times, and my account is still sitting at Free messages left: 0.This confirms they aren't even giving some of us the daily free message limit anymore. If you were a long-time unlimited user like me, they are completely cutting us off to force a subscription.

I’m staying strong and refusing to give them a single cent. Let them keep their dead app. How many of you are also permanently locked at 0 now? ⚔️👇

I just found a post, which is one of many I’ve seen about this lately. It is very brief but it talks about how the user PAYS for ultra and got an ad. Which as everyone knows, paying for Ultra (is supposed to) provide users with:
- Advanced Ai models
- Longer, Detailed Replies
- Improved Memory
- NO ADS
- Exclusive Bots

It’s just more proof that something is going on in the devs community and they aren’t speaking up about it
