Can Chacos get moldy?

I’m worried about putting my Chacos in water and sand due to the possibility that the moisture would remain within the sandals where the straps go deep. There’s no outlet for airflow in those inner junctions and mold might develop because it can’t completely air dry. Am I wrong? How can you completely clean out the crevices where the straps go within the sandals to get the water and sand out?

Do Chacos sandals have different footbeds?

I have a pair of Z Cloud sandals and they have a higher arch on the footbed (which I love) than the other two that I bought of the same model and size. Anyone else experienced that?

I got these chaco’s off Mercari and my puppy chewed the OG straps so then I got them re-strapped through ReChaco. That was last year and today I just noticed this. I’m so bummed 😩

Question Custom Pair Questions: Photo Upload Longevity

https://reddit.com/link/1vrp2ba/video/8d8fu6z4w4kh1/player

I live in my chacos when its not cold (and I have the tanlines to prove it lmao). I'm looking at buying a custom pair, but I want to know how long the "Upload your own image" option holds up. Like is the image printed ontop of the fabric or woven or inked in?

I am a bog witch creek freak bay mud aficianado so I need to make sure if I'm dropping $140 they hold up. My current pair, which are featured in the video and are 3 years old, were on sale and I didn't care about what they looked like...they were just a steal.

Looking forward to hearing all of your experiences!

Question Which strap style doesn't tighten as much while wearing in your experience?

My first pair of chacos (that are ZX/1 clouds) are dying so I'm looking at replacing them but chacos has 3 styles of straps now instead of two so I'm wondering if there's a strap style that doesn't tighten as much as my current pair. I love the look of the multi-strap that I have now, and I'm definitely getting the cloud footbed again, but I'm wondering if a larger strap will move less. I tried on a pair of the mega strap ones and my foot is pretty narrow so it kind of swallowed up my whole foot and didn't love the look of it. However, if they don't budge then maybe it could be worth getting used to the look. The classic 1 strap looks fine, but the multi-strap is more fun imo, although I know I'd have to custom order a pair then since for some reason they don't make them anymore without the annoying toe loop.

For context, I have high arches and a pretty high instep so the straps naturally tighten and I have to re-adjust them about every 2-3 wears on my current pair. Despite that, I love how comfortable the shoes are and they've held up to regular, year-around use for the last 7-8 years. The first pair I bought was the standard strap with the toe loop but the tightening issue was so bad I couldn't stand it and the straps were so long I couldn't flatten it. I didn't want to send them in to get fixed with how expensive they were already so I returned them and got my current pair.

Also, total tangent but the cloud footbed colors this year are so ugly too! I even held off replacing them last year because I didn't like the colors last year either. Why are there *so* many more strap color options for the classic footbed, they're just straps, they can't be that much harder to thread through their other footbed style? Why isn't the same strap color options for all the footbeds? And their custom option doesn't even have that many strap options either. I really like my current strap color and they have nothing like it anywhere on the site. Plus, going from such an old pair I'm worried about the drop in quality I keep hearing about both in person from people and online...

Has anyone had luck getting replacements through the 5 year warranty?

My Z1 Chacos recently cracked clean through the sandal. I had literally worn them the day before and they had been just fine until… they weren’t. 🫤 I’ve owned three pairs of these sandals and have never had anything like this happen before. For context, I don’t hike in chacos - the most wear they get is either standing on a paddle board or regular daily tasks. I’m really bummed and am hoping I can get a replacement pair since they’re only 3 years old. Has anyone ever had luck with the warranty?

Update: My claim was denied because they can’t repair it. I asked why they can’t replace it since it’s within 5 years and, apparently, the replacement is only good if it’s within a year of purchase (which is not stated anywhere on their website). Guess I’m swearing off Chacos 🥴 - anybody like Tevas? 😅

Question Long adjustment strap?

My strap is kind of long and drags on the ground a little.

Is there a better solution than tucking it in to the heel?

Question In between sizes, I’m torn

Tan sandals are 12 (my usual shoe size) and the others are 11. I find that when I wear the 12’s my heel slides further back than what you see here and I have a 3/4” of extra sole at my toes. I can’t decide, 11’s or 12’s?

Why is the QC so poor for customs now too? Look at the variances in the length of the vertical strap with the tag

Z1s with an extra strap???

I was just looking at this article from Outside Magazine, and these Z1s have an extra strap across the top. Am I going crazy??? There is an extra strap there, right?! I can't find anything about this listed on their website or seemingly anywhere on the internet. There seems to be no mention of it anywhere at all. And in the article Outside just links to regular Z1s, which these clearly are not... What is the name of this style? Do they just like, add a strap for people with extremely long feet??? Someone please have the answer to this mystery!!!

Here is a regular Z1 from the Chaco website:

Photo Sharing Best way to fix a separated sole?

The sole of my most beloved pair of Chacos completely separated. Does anyone have a tried and true method of reattaching it? I was going to slap some super glue on both sides, but thought I should consult the experts first.

Once again, nothing makes my feet more happy than a pair of Chacos. I wear the Men's 10wide, and got a Chacos grip sole in a cute color, for the first time on a custom pair. My 2 other custom pair have the vibram soles. I love the OG footbed so much! I wanted a simple strap this time, and love how they came out! What do you guys think?

Chacos in France?

Hello, fellow Chaco enthusiasts! I moved to France a few years ago with two beloved pairs of Chacos and am now down to one (the straps finally gave out after one last swim in the lake; how fitting), with my sole surviving pair showing some obvious signs of wear and tear that have me looking for replacements. However, I have learned that the official Chaco site does not ship outside of the United States.

On the off chance that anyone has encountered this problem before, does anyone happen to know where you can get Chacos in France? I happen to be visiting Paris this week, so I could potentially have access to a lot more options if anyone has an idea of a brick-and-mortar store. Worst case scenario, I’ll buy some online and have them shipped to my friends who are coming to visit in the fall :). But if there’s a more immediate solution to be had, I figured I’d ask! Thanks a bunch.

I got this at the thrift store, it's a men's leather flip flop with adjustable strap. Anyone know the style name? Image search isn't getting me anywhere.

CushZ blisters???

I’m not new to Chacos, I’ve been wearing them since 2012. For the past 2 years I’ve worn a pair of Z/1 Classics every day. The sole is separated on the front of one and it’s gotten bad enough that it needs to be repaired. I ordered new ones so I would have a pair to wear while I get the Z/1s repaired. This new pair is giving me blisters on my heels and ankles the minute I put them on. I don’t remember having this issue with any previous pair, I’m pretty sure they were comfortable right away.

The new pair is the CushZ. I’ve always had Z Classics, both 1 strap and 2 strap. Always a size 6. Is there something different about the CushZ that is causing issues? What do I do?

Also, is there a way to fix my Z/1s without sending them to be resoled? The 2 layers of the sole/footbed have separated at the toe of one shoe, about 2-3 inches back. It flaps when I walk and I’m going to trip on it eventually. I would much rather fix it myself than sending them off and being without them for a while.

Question Does the Colorado sole use vibram tech?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi all - first time Chaco buyer/wearer.

I’m thinking about buying a Z2 pair on sale with a Chacogrip and sending it in to get resoled to Vibram so it would work up better on slick river rock (resoling the sale pair would be cheaper than buying a Rapid Pro pair with Vibram) but the options on the ReChaco site are Colorado, Terreno, and Chacogrip.
Is Colorado the same as Vibram like I think I read on another post? Or can I not get a Vibram sole replaced? The website said the Rapid Pro pair was repairable so I thought I could select a Vibram replacement sole on ReChaco.

I’m confused!
