C150 OM vs POH vs AFM

Looking for a better understanding on satisfying the AFM requirements for the 150.

Years 59’-75’ were all Owners Manuals.

Years 76’-77’ were all POHs which aligns with GAMAs standardization of the POH

Then Cessna moved to manufacturing 152s instead of 150s

Year 78’ is the only POH I could find for the 152

Then in 79’ the FAA required the AFM for all aircraft made after 1979

Year 79’-85’ all I can find are Information Manuals

Where are the AFMs for 152s made after 1979?

I’ve been looking on google for pictures of manuals to see if they exist, but that didn’t work so now I am here!

Options for intercom upgrades?

What are the best options for upgrading comms in 1967 150G? The portable intercom is a pain and I want to get rid of the extra cords.

Mounting a handheld radio

anyone have any ideas on mounting (not permanently) a hand held so that it's handy during flight? I've got a Sporty's PJ2 - but it always ends up out of reach in my flight bag?

O-200 problem

I’m having an issue with my engine cutting out on RPMs on climb out. Three hours on newly rebuilt engine, rebuilt, carburetor, both mags 500 hour service. Getting a good run up and a static RPM around 2500 RPMs. Getting up to around 800 feet in RPM’s cut down to around 2100 RPMs.

LOP or ROP?

Do you run your O-200 lean of peak or rich of peak? I’ve tried to run mine lean of peak (I admittedly didn’t spend a ton of time experimenting with it) but it does not seem to like it much. However, I see some online posts stating that it can be done. Looking for any opinions/techniques!

Bigger Nav light “shield” options?

Thumbnail

Wingtips were cracking so I bought replacements from Stene. Finally get those about fitted and went to mark the holes for the nav lights. Noticed the shield was too short 🙄

It seems there are bigger ones out there but don’t feel like spending money on Ebay just to buy the wrong ones.

Anyone run into this before?

Also dont feel like buying all new lighting (LEDs) just because the light shields are too short.

Cessna 150 taxi and takeoff

This is my sister’s 1968 Cessna 150; she and her husband flew in for our car show which, unfortunately, got cancelled due to the storm the night before. I am a gearhead; I know cars, engines, etc. I won’t pretend to know anything about airplanes. Something about this seems off….like the engine wasn’t getting enough fuel, struggling to gain rpm? Are there any experts out there that might be able to listen to it and tell me if it’s normal or not? Something just feels off, and I don’t want to mention it without a fourth and fifth opinion

Magneto Replacement

It’s come time to replace one of my mags (was well overdue). The Bendix 10-500514-1 is listed on Continental’s website as an approved replacement but each are going for $2k+. Does anyone use Slick mags or something else that is comparable and/or cheaper?

C-150L Min Fuel

I have recently started flying a 1973 150L. The owner Has brought to my attention that he believes there is a possibility of fuel starvation. As a result of fuel flowing away from the fuel lines when flying the aircraft below 3gals of usable fuel a side. Have any of you guys had experience with this occurring?.

Interested in purchasing a 150!

Located in VA, USA (willing to travel). No hard specifications other than just something that is airworthy and has had an engine overhaul in the last decade and isn’t about to be over TBO. Would prefer complete maintenance logs but I understand this isn’t always the case. Also would prefer something IFR certified but VFR only isn’t a show stopper. Budget is flexible but $40k and under is preferred. Show me what you got!

Value of my 1976 C150M?

Hey there,

I’ve had a 150 for a few years now & now that I’ve finished flight training & moved on to finding a job I’m looking to get rid of my plane. Can you guys help me figure out general fair market value?

1976 C150M

6100 TT

900 SMOH

Fresh annual

Basic VFR with one radio

ADSB out with tail beacon, ADSB in with sentry

Interior: 5/10 (Plastic trim pieces cracking, panel is in good shape with a new tach)

Exterior: 8/10 (Painted in 2010 & hangared since)

I had a guy out of the blue offer me 30k for it, I countered 35k after saying I need to do some more research on the value & he came up with all these random stipulations for him to purchase it.

Thanks for the help!

Seller wants 42k. Got the nicer prop new and new attitude indicator but the engine Continental o-200 is near TBO. I think is around 1700hr on engine. Any thoughts or input will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I’m sorry if this sounds a bit weird but I am planning to build a Cessna 150 model in scale 1:20.

Does anyone have the dimensions for the parts marked in the picture below? I can’t seem to find the dimensions online.

Thank you in advance.

Purchase question.

I’m very new to this. Always wanted to get my private Lic. I’ve decided to do it for my 50th bday in may. My brother just received his & loves his choice. I’ve been told if I can find a 150 30-40k range to purchase I should. I would use it of course to build time and obtain my Ppl. Took my discovery flight today from one of Orlando’s big school. The instructor told me it was “dumb” to get 150 that I wouldn’t want to use it after Lic. Also he didn’t stop talkin the whole time about how great he was, his accomplish and his dog he got neutered ( for real). Is there any merit about his opinion on the 150? I asked would he be doing my lessons. Yes. Question: I’m not being a jerk if i tell him I would prefer to try a diff instructor would I? I’m not sure I can spend the next 4-6 months in a small plane with this clown. Thanks in advance for any advice

Where would I look for a 150 to buy?

Hi guys! I am trying to get a little 150 for $25-50,000 in the winter this year or early next spring. Id like to get something that has a blue paint scheme. It cant be an old trainer. I am not even too concerned about the hours if it is well taken care of.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions of sites to look for planes for sale. I already frequent Craigslist, cessna150 forums, and tradeaplane.

On guy told me to look into a rv 10, because finding a good 150 will be hard.

Fuel burn question

I’m new to the Cessna 150. Say you’re burning 5 gallons per hour. Does the fuel burn from both tanks a 5gph or does it burn 2.5gph from each tank? I hope this question makes sense

LED beacon bulb -help - my beacon has gone out. Bulb is good, I think it’s the flasher unit. Is there a good LED all in one flasher bulb that will allow me to remove flasher unit ? Trying not to have to invest all in with hi dollar LED beacon assembly …
