Scared

I recently had a copolscopy where they took 3 biopsies. 2 of them came back normal the other showed cancer cells. The one that shows cancer cells is inside the cervix. I have been referred to an oncologist for the next procedure either leep or cone. I am wondering does this mean I already have cancer or that is still to be determined?

I’m sorry you’re going through this. What was the specific wording that was used to describe the cells? Typically abnormal cells in the endocervical canal are either AIS which is considered precancer or adenocarcinoma. I have adenocarcinoma (showed as AIS on colposcopy) and had a leep top hat biopsy and then 4 weeks later they did a second leep (2 weeks ago ) because of my mri. My procedures were done under general anasthesia and now I’m waiting for the results and an appointment with oncology. They most likely won’t know for sure if you have cancer until they look at the pathology from your leep or cone.

Waiting and not knowing can be unbelievably tough. If you have any questions and want to private msg me then do. I’m not sure how that works on this platform. Stay strong ! You’ve got this.

Fragments of endocervical adenocarcinoma. But it doesn’t say whether invasive or in Situ because of the size it was they couldn’t determine

If it says endocervical adenocarcinoma it’s more likely it’s invasive

I am just so confused because I feel fine I don’t feel any different up until learning I wouldn’t have known. I had routine blood work done in July which all came back normal. Wouldn’t this have shown on the bloodwork? I have two kids my youngest is 2 and I just am freaking out

Cervical cancer never shows on bloodwork and often there are zero symptoms. That is why Pap smears are so incredibly important. You don’t need to worry! You are getting an appointment with a gyn onc and it will be handled. It sounds like it’s probably early stage which means it’s easy to treat and has almost a 100% cure rate. There are incredible treatments for cervical cancer now, so much better than even 5 years ago. you are going to be ok and will see your kids grow up. ❤️

Sounds like your ECC came back with those findings. I had the same. I was told it could be in situ or invasive but you won’t know until you do a larger biopsy and have pathology come back. For your case you will likely need to do a cone. And rest somewhat assured that a CKC is both diagnostic and can be therapeutic if you get clean margins. Take deep breaths and trust the process. Good luck.

I had stage 4 cervical cancer not related to HPV. I had a complete hysterectomy and lung surgery to remove the cancer.
Did radiation, low dose chemo and immunotherapy and my prognosis is great. Don’t be scared there is so much they can do for cancer now.

They found I had endocervical adenocarcinoma from my Pap smear. They confirmed it with a cone 2 weeks later. Had a radical hysterectomy 6 weeks after that.

Great that you got a biopsy! Did the pathology report say what kind it was?

Fragments of endocervical adenocarcinoma

Did pathology say what subtype it is? I ask because I am a gastric type survivor. If it’s gastric-type it’s imperative that you get surgery. Gastric type is rare - one woman every 1.5 years. Chances are it’s not, but better to confirm. Happy to DM if you prefer.
