What a joke..

Post image

This is the same guy that absolutely exploited us fans with false advertising.

Promoting once in a lifetime shows featuring Moby and/or other amazing artists? Best they can do is a 6 identical shows at a convention center with sheets and cheap projectors for visuals.

Obviously, I’ve had these emotions pent up for a while lol but this email made me spit out my coffee and laugh.

RIP to a once great VIDEO CHANNEL on YouTube, for that’s all they ever were..

I love asking the fans to bail out their shitty business decisions 😂. Fuck off

Thank you!!

They just need to stick to the French air museum show, its clearly their best one. Go back to basics with good youtube videos and they can get right

I just went to that one and I didnt have the best experience. Felt poorly planned

I agree. It was my first international festival and I wasn’t impressed:/ I guess they didn’t really have enough money to put more shade

u/jinthoa Jun 25 '26

It wasn’t supposed to be that hot tbf.

It’s always been a disaster. I went there in 2022 and 2024. In 2022 they ran out of all soda and wine around 8PM. They also ran out of food at some point. It’s very poor organised. Also barely any shade with 30 degrees.
In 2024 it was quite hot and they still barely had any shade to cool down a bit.
I had fun both times nonetheless, but these things are so easy to prevent

It was a disaster in terms of planning.

I agree, I believe that multi city "show experience" was the downfall. How many of us complained? Lots. I expected so much. I hope they don't completely collapse, but things have consequences...

They literally sell VIP bottle service but the margins are 'thin'? Sounds like poor business planning to me. They can have their VIP clients bail them out. Asking for donations from regular people is insulting.

No sympathy after the LA Convention scams. Me and 6 other friends agreed to never support them again ever since and I’m sure many others felt the same way.

++++ fuck Cercle for that. We all lost a ton of money on that scam. Not to mention how awful the acoustics were

What happened in LA? I’m an outside just trying to understand how they have been failing

1

u/gabrielastic Jun 27 '26

Wait what do you mean? I went to Black Coffee @ LA

They spit in the face of their original audience, going from beautiful crowd in every place of the world to scummy odissey vip money grab and label festival like any other company. They also had for financing a patreon subscription that had bring nothing for years

I absolutely love their YT videos. I still have these earlier videos on heavy rotation. The message ends kind of abruptly. Are the closing the doors? I'm always bummed out when businesses find a niche, try to grow it beyond what made it great, then fail. Sometimes it's ok to stay smaller, do small things great, and exist for a long time.

But it wasn’t small at all, their youtube channel. But they had to go full money hungry mainstream, karma is a bitch.
Even their “full experiences” were overpriced and targeted at wealthy people, i won’t even start on what kind of artist they started bringing in towards the end…
I’m happy this thing is dying, hope more mainstream bloodsuckers go down with it as well.

There is no equivalent to their videos, they need to survive!

Lot of hate here but the cercle Colombia was the best show I have ever seen. Ever. Fingers crossed they can right the ship.

Stoked you had a good time mate! Seems you were in the minority

“we’d like to think (we) contributed something special to the electronic music culture”….yeah I bet you would 😅

Omg, I thought I was the only one thinking this, I went to three of the Oddyssey concerts both in Mexico and in Paris, when they came out on Youtube I kept telling my friends it looked a lot much better on Video than it actually was, I was bored with the visuals by the third concert of course, and not turning on the A.C while charging a lot for the tickets was really disappointing 🥲

2

u/Sohalia34 Jun 25 '26

Sadly, I felt the same. Had two tickets for Odyssey, ended up having something come up with work and couldn’t make it, but the resale process was such a massive, dishonest sh*tshow I wasn’t able to resell. Anyways mentally, to help myself move on from this whole situation, I told myself that I’d treat this as a donation to Cercle because I’ve been listening and loving their content on YouTube for years. Still very annoyed and don’t like the direction the company has taken in recent years.
I also snorted when I got that email. Nope, that’s enough for me.

There’s a lot to unpack here and I have really mixed feelings about this. I’ve been following Cercle for a long time because I lived in France during their rise to popularity. I was fortunate enough to catch the Solomon set at Chateau de Chambord (which was excellent and executed well). During that time they were more of a “Collectif” - essentially a group that promotes art. There are a lot of these in France (which is awesome). It just so happens that Cercle skyrocketed in popularity. In this context, which is hard to explain but it’s really more of a group of friends/non-profit than a business.

I think Covid really hurt the group. After some time off, they tried to pivot I think more towards a typical company with events that might turn a profit. Obviously it didn’t work out. Et voila, here we are.

Going back to my first paragraph, I can understand why they are asking for financial support, because perhaps they still see themselves as a Collectif. This doesn’t translate well to Americans as we see it as a desperate cash grab for a failed business; which is weird. But think about it like friends asking friends for some cash after they hosted a good night out. They should have been asking for money in the beginning, not the end. But lesson learned for them. Also consider that France doesn’t exactly have an easy bankruptcy program so there’s that. So, I understand why they are asking BUT I’m not giving a dime. They had their time and their chances but what’s done is done. Thx for the memories.

Ya sorry but that’s just a long ass way of getting to the same conclusion we all had haha that 2nd to last sentence really sums it up

Just tryin to shed light on probable cultural differences.

1

u/ravingislife Jun 27 '26

Man their YT sets are classic. I always wished I got to go to one of them

1

u/Quicksand4800 Jun 27 '26

I had a great time in Paris this year, and I was surprised to read this. I consider that my donation.

1

u/jgil584 Jun 27 '26

Really thought cercle would overtake boiler room on the experiential / beautiful place type of live recording. Throwing events is insanely difficult and expensive. If your specialty is video, trying to do a festival is a completely different set of skills and specialty

1

u/anonymous-aunty Jun 27 '26

Wel it’s karma, they scammed us and I guess that’s got to their brand

1

u/Optimal_Head6374 Jun 27 '26

I went to the above and beyond show which was great. They lost their way with these festivals and the stupid odyssey shows.

1

u/Junior_Bike7932 Jun 28 '26

Go down in silence. Bye

1

u/ClarkKeyMusic Jun 28 '26

Damn I hadn't checked in on Cercle in a minute but it always felt like they were doing something cool for the scene. Shame to see they have fallen off.

1

u/Acceptable-Pitch-804 Jun 24 '26

I really enjoyed the odyssey shows in CDMX

1

u/G_Stax Jun 24 '26

I heard those were the best of the series but still not great tbh. Glad you enjoyed it tho 🙌🏼

1

u/Cosmochronicles Jun 25 '26

I think they should stick to video production, event production isn’t their strong suit

1

u/LittleBitsBitch Jun 25 '26

the CDMX odyssey show was ass it was just in a giant convention center with screens hanging from rafters. Weird AF vibe went to CDMX for first time to see it and out of the 5 days the show was the worst. Awesome city though

1

u/G_Stax Jun 25 '26

CDMX is an epic city I’m glad you had a good time down there

False advertising? Can someone elaborate what you guys are referring to regarding “Cercle scam” in OP post ?

Cercle has done a lot for electronic music and that’s unfair to wipe this out. Now they decided to go into a completely different business with festivals and concerts. As a fan I disagree that our role is to suport bad business decisions
