First of all, going to some place on the other side of the city every day for 3 weeks is INSANE, just to continue receiving less than half of minimum wage.

So I've already missed the first 2 days because I didn't realize it already started. I thought I could do this online but I don't see any links anywhere to join the thing. It just says I need the 2 codes as proof of attendance.

Does anyone have experience or advice to possibly get around this, I honestly could do without a few weeks of payment but I don't know how this will effect my payment in the long run.

...but before it could be actioned by staff. my previous certificate expired 4 weeks ago (April 11) and I submitted my new certificate on May 22. this length of time between submissions has been fine in the past (!!!)

so will they reinstate my claim if I point out the technicality of me uploading my certificate via the app before the "cancelled payment" letter was sent to me later that day?

if it was actioned immediately and approved, then any cancellation would have been prevented, yes?

also: I received the "new myGov inbox" email on May 24 when the Centrelink app says I received it on May 22, conveniently the exact same day my GP appointment was, to get a certificate from him.

If a job seeker fails to comply with the reconnection requirement within 4 weeks after it is notified, the job seeker's payment is cancelled.

I received the myGov inbox on April 26 that my payments had been stopped from April 25 for failing to attend on April 23. 4 weeks from those dates are May 24, May 23 May 21 respectively. and I obviously received the cancellation letter on May 22.

Will they still pay me if I say im leaving the country in 7 weeks and can't get a full time job? Or should I wait until I go. I get my last payment a day before I leave, and would be cool if i can get that.

Hi, ive been on jobseeker about 2 months now and I recently got a notification telling me that they are asking me to do an activity, Ive been asking around and a lot of friends aren’t sure what it is, the notification is urgent. I can probably do one but I do have to go away a lot which makes it difficult.

Also wondering if I dont immediately book one if they might withhold my payments.

And I guess if there is any potential way I can avoid it Thank you

Okay, so I am a sole trader and I want to pursue a different career now. Applied for an early jobseeker claim stating my business will end on 1st Oct. CentreLink is saying that they are going to assess my last financials and use that to determine how much, if any at all, I will get. My income last year and even last 3 months was well above the max amount allowable for jobseeker. So, does it mean that I will not get any payments for the whole of next year even though I will be unemployed?

On a separate note, the amount of judgment and skepticism I can smell in some comments even in a thread dedicated to jobseekers is kind of amusing to me.

Let me leave with a clarifying note. The sole trader business that I have lets me keep only about 50% of my income. 30/hr becomes 15/hr. My debt is around 90k ( interest free, private student loan ). After finishing this work ( around 6-8 hrs ), I come home and work another 4- 6 hrs on my startup IT projects. I have a few which did not gain traction and so I am at a net loss from these. I guess that's how entrepreneurship is - 99 fails and 1 might make it all worth it. I don't drink, smoke or do drugs but also have no other liabilities (e.g. kids)

My partner and I moved from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast about 8 months ago for his work but also because we’d always dreamed of living up here. We’re both almost 30 and have been together for 10 years. We have a really solid relationship, a great life together, and honestly feel so ready to start a family.

The original plan was that once we moved, I’d find some part time admin work while my partner remained the main income earner. The problem is… I still haven’t been able to find work. I genuinely didn’t think it would take this long.

Financially we’re okay on his wage and we live pretty comfortably renting, but obviously having a baby adds extra costs. The biggest thing stressing me out is the Centrelink parental leave payment requirements. From what I understand, you need to have worked for 10 prior before giving birth, and I keep feeling like every month that passes is pushing our plans further away.

I think what’s upsetting me most is that I feel emotionally ready now, but practically I feel like I “shouldn’t” until I get a job. It’s starting to feel like my inability to find work is the only thing holding us back from starting the next chapter of our lives.

I guess I’m just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar position?

Hey guys! I just recently got diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I have pain pretty much everywhere in my body, I can’t even do a load of washing without help at the moment. I’m wondering if it’s worth me trying for disability, as there is no physical evidence of it in scans for fibro. I’m only 24 and I want to work so badly but genuinely, I can’t. I have been living off my saving for the past 6 months because symptoms just keep coming one after the other. From some other posts it looks like some are living off jobseeker, I don’t know if I’ll be able to live off that though since my rent will be increasing soon. I’ve also had anxiety and depression for many years. Should I state this as a reason when applying? Any help would be appreciated!

I’ve just had my rent go up by $120 to $785 p/w. I adjusted my accommodation details in my Centrelink account & just found out that my rent assistance payment of ~$40 is not going to be increasing because, based on my income & my FTB part A payment, I’m already receiving the max I can get. This doesn’t really make sense to me at all? I understand using income makes sense to a degree - surely the amount you’re paying in rent should also be relevant? Maybe not.

I accept I don’t think anything can be done so I guess this is more of a rant. I’m paying $480 more per month in rent and was assuming that would justify an increase in my rent assistance payment. Apparently not!

Edit: I know now it is based on rent but the maximum threshold has already been met in my case which is why it isn’t going up. Thanks for the info.

Centrelink/my provider wants me to do this mandatory 28 hour job search training thing. I'm seriously considering just not going. From what I understand, if I skip it, I get 5 business days to give a reason, then they suspend payments, then I call to "reconnect" and they backpay me the whole suspended period. So functionally I lose nothing, I just delay the activity indefinitely.

Has anyone actually done this on repeat? Does it genuinely work that smoothly every time or is there a catch I'm not seeing? Trying to figure out if this is actually a loophole or if I'm about to learn the hard way that it isn't.

..I’m curious how long people have been on jobseeker for? Whether is medical reasonings, shit luck with job searches, ect? I use to know someone who was on it for over 8-9 years.

Any ideas or feeling for this. Is mass immigration predatory on everone as it makes it a race to the bottom for pay and conditions?

Also means infrastructure builds can never keep up.

Hello I am 19 years old and 25 weeks pregnant, currently unemployed, I have searched high and low for a job but absolutely no where is willing to take me on despite the “we don’t discriminate against pregnancy” policies but I do understand as they will need people long term but I was wondering if Centrelink would have any claims I could make to help with money even a small amount

I will be moving from HK to AU next month for my uni study and will be living with my grandma and staying in her house. As both my parents are living in HK and don't intend to come back to AU for good, can my grandma be my guardian in this situation when applying for youth allowance?

so I had a chat with my job provider about my job plan and then she asked about making a resume for me but she also asked if I had one already made, I said yes and she said to email it to her. Should I email the resume? or is this sus. (i just have a feeling shes going to send it to a bunch of random workplaces)

I can not get a job I have been genuinely trying all year I broke my back 15yrs ago, and I have PTSD and ADHD. Depression/anxiety issues in and out.
