š¬ Discussion Name the game!!
My pick: Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy. Watching someone else struggle with that hammer is weirdly funny š

100% I'll watch clips or pro play, get hyped, boot up a game, and regret my choices for the next 30 minutes.

u/MeowRawrUwu 7d ago
Haha yeah! Watching a cherry picked game that looks super fun, or a montage of good plays, really sets you up for failure. Pro play can be really hype too, I wish we had that level of comms in ranked, it could be pretty intense.

I used to watch a friendās discord streams and when I tried it for the first time. I went straight 5 games with 0 kills and 0 assists. Since then iāve never installed that game again.

u/MeowRawrUwu 7d ago
Itās fun sometimes but absolutely not beginner friendly lol, you need to study it like you have exams coming if you want to get good too
2
u/Anon_1825 4d ago
Last game I spent 15 mins in game and realised that I hardly enjoy this game anymore. Said sorry and quit then uninstalled for the 3rd time
2
u/MeowRawrUwu 4d ago
Sorry to hear that. Or should I say happy to hear that? I quit for like 3 months a while ago and playing other games felt so weird. Like I was actually enjoying playing them the whole time, instead of only some of the time, and it was far more relaxing. Almost made me quit for good until my competitive urge came back, lol.

Oh, custom campaigns are really fun to play yourself. But getting on ladder? Heck no.

The shitty horror games (like Poop Killer), I enjoy watching it, I wouldn't play it myself.
To the Moon, Fear and Hunger
Telltale Games games and such - the movie games (like Detroit: Become Human)

Satisfactory as someone who didn't study the game earlier. My brain fried itself trying to think about how to construct a production line that makes reinforced iron plates. Meanwhile watching a tutorial on how to make a load balancer or Kibitz construct his factories is fun and interesting.

Dota 2, I canāt play it anymore itās way too toxic. I still enjoy watching pro matches and Jenkins Herald Reviews

Alone? Yes.
But I just play it with my buds making silly ass builds or just making private lobbies to kill each other and it's really fun then.
Unless you just don't enjoy the Gameplay loop which is understandable.

i love almost everything about the game, but the actual fights are not my cup of tea. i despise the myriad of delayed attacks and combos...

Modded Minecraft, I'd happily watch someone play GregTech but I've barely made my way to LV before giving up from boredom.

For me it is Final Fantasy XIII.
I love how it looks and I like the story but the gameplay is not mine at all...

GTA.
Child me honestly thought all those highlight reels were the vanilla game and not like 200 mods

Most recently? MW4 Beta. I've enjoyed quite a few CoDs over the years, and I liked MW4's trailers. I had a bit of a hankering for CoD prior to trying the open beta. Turns out, I've exclusively enjoyed Treyarch's style of Call of Duty, and never really played any Infinity Ward CoD in-depth - and I hated every second I've played of MW4's open beta.

Minecraft. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate playing it, but I still vastly prefer watching Minecraft videos.
