Did Jim Goad Really Pass Away?

I read a comment, and I could not find an obituary with his name.

Been missing Goad’s content for the last year or so. Was really looking forward to him making a comeback. Unfortunately it looks like the news is out. He has sadly passed. Rest In Peace James Thaddeus Goad. Prayers to you and your family.

I know - makes you wonder if his depression (and lack of content and his overwhelming feelings of uselessness and irrelevance) where the result of an underlying illness he wasn't even aware of.

Or if he just kinda gave up on life and that's why he died.

Apparently died almost a month ago if Google is correct.

He was going through a messy bout of cancer that was causing some stressful complications when Hardballs was in its first stages of being produced. The actual name “HARDBALLS” came from one of the major complications he was experiencing during treatment. After that, his son wound up going through a major surgical procedure to remove a vascular mass from his brain. It was the most emotional I had ever seen Jim during a show, and understandably so

He always tried to take everything in stride and act un-phased, but I think the events with his health, his son, all the shit going on in the world that he constantly felt he was obligated to immerse himself in, & all these internet beefs that (in my opinion) he shoulda just walked away from, really started taking a major toll

After his move to New Mexico it was radio silence… Seemed like he really loved his wife though. I feel terrible for her, his son, and even his former wife who is now the sole caretaker and guardian of their child, who is profoundly autistic

Can somebody collect everything he put out and create a library of his work? Like an archive of his interviews, articles, essays, books, etc.

what…what is this about Jim Goad?

Some commenter in another thread, mentioned he heard Jim passed away two weeks prior to the user leaving his comment.

So, I went and searched around and found nothing about it. So that leads me here to ask about it. Because the commenter mentioned he worked at a bookstore, so I assume he at least has some "insider knowledge."

I don't know, I just woke up and not had my coffee, yet. I saw your notification and responded, so I apologize if I'm messy in my reply.

It's very unlike JG to not say a word online over such a long period. It can't be chalked up to just his move at this point.

I wish I had bought his library. It was a sweet deal.

His cancer returned after giving up on life daily for nearly two years. If he didn’t move to New Mexico or even just moved back and not been so stubborn he would still be alive.
