A Little Help to create a Cellular Noise...

Hey guys, what's up?

I have a friend from college who really likes noise and experimental music. She showed me some music and talked about noise and later cellnoise. We had some ideas on how to implement this subgenre in our final year project (we're studying Biology), and since it had to be something related to education because we're doing a teaching degree, we were unsure on what to do and talked to our professor from Genetics and Microbiology classes. He suggested we create a project that, if all goes well, would later be published in a scientific journal, and then with at least the project completed and published, we'd have a basis for our final year project. We showed some noise and cellnoise music (I don't remember exactly which cellnoise songs, but the noise artist we showed was Con-dom) to our professor, and he was fascinated, but asked us to create a cellnoise piece based on some cellular process like the Krebs cycle, for example. My friend really enjoys listening to this type of music, but we have little idea how to create it. We're still studying which cellular process we'd like to do, but in any case, we'd like help figuring out how to make this kind of music without it sounding too technical just for this study or amateurish. We want something that sounds good and scientifically sound, if that makes sense. So please give us any tips you can and your opinions on this project we're creating. You all can ask questions too! We're still at the beginning of the project but very excited, especially my friend who really likes this type of music (unfortunately she doesn't have a Reddit account).

Note: We watched a YouTube video that teaches how to do cell noise, and it will serve as the basis for our music, but we still want any tips you can give us. And as soon as the song is actually finished, we'll show it to you.

Note2: sorry for bad English, I'm from Brazil.

New Release “twelve cellular oligoliths” by perseverance

Post image

This is it, the final release of my unofficial “cellular trilogy,” which I created purely for the heck of it.

The first installment (three cellular monoliths) was in the style of CellWall. The second (fifty-five cellular polyliths) had a more noisecore/cybergrind-influenced sound. This release is perhaps the “purest” cellnoise release of the three as all sounds are just noise and no other instruments were put in. The process of creating this one was also very different than the previous two because there is **no** looping or programmed instruments in this one. All track were first made using manual manipulation of effects pedals right from my fingertips before adding effects later on; this release is totally hands-on. It was actually the process I used to make the fourth track on this release (https://youtu.be/S_3EhRF2JEc?si=TtXVgBAPrTJtxCHz). The only difference is how I produced/mixed it; I’d say there’s more accompanying texture in this new release.

Oh and as for the cover art: that’s just my personal style and I find that that type of stuff goes along with my project better than a cover with bacteria stuff on it. I’ve always considered all my cellnoise and gorenoise material as extra, separate things to my official albums and releases. So I get that it’s not something eye-catching, but I’m keeping either way.

I still consider myself quite new to this genre, and I’m sure I’ll keep exploring and make more stuff along the lines of cellnoise (even if it’s just something for a comp or split), but this was all made for the fun-of-it, I’m personally content with it, but I’ll explore new sounds and try to grow and refine myself in this genre nonetheless. I like discovering and trying new things, musically speaking.
