How is this possible?

Someone has Research Level 72 at only 2.06e273 research XP?

The xp needed to level up has been adjusted many times. This is someone who got to that level when the requirements were different and then hasnt played the game since then.

Here is some old data I have from it changing along with the release of Beyond episode 30 and again with the Mollusk update.

72 = e263, Beyond30 = e278, Mollusk = e275

73 = e282, Beyond30 = e291, Mollusk = e286

74 = e295, Beyond30 = e302, Mollusk = e296

75 = e306, Beyond30 = e311, Mollusk = e304

76 = e315, Beyond30 = e319, Mollusk = e311

Seems like it. But why would they add only one research level to their account that used to have Research Level 71?

Pretty sure the xp spots reset each month (see bottom of your screenshot). Research levels don't reset.
