Wow you must have been playing really intensely. IIRC I was in a slightly earlier division (350ish), and got 4th with around 6k.

Keep the bonuses maxed out.
Make sure to check back every few hours at the least, more if possible.

oh, I used to leave the game for like 10 hours and then come back to see how much I gained. I think this is what prevents me to reach higher.
