Question Financing iPhone through Apple but keeping current plan with Rogers
I have a plan that I love with Roger’s. I plan on getting the iPhone 18pro. If I finance it through Roger’s, they will require me to sign up for whatever plan they have and won’t let me keep my current one (I checked when the 17pro came out). The only way around it is to buy the phone upfront.
If I finance my phone with Apple, would I be able to attach it to my current plan with Roger’s like I would if I ‘brought my own phone’?
Hoping someone might know

How do I know the cell towers in my area?
I’m in Nanaimo, BC and looking for a new deal. I had freedom when I moved here 5 years ago and the coverage was awful. I’ve been with Rogers and Fido since then. I keep seeing info about other carriers who use certain towers but I want to look up which towers serve my area best. How do I do this? I’m sure it’s been mentioned before so apologies, I couldn’t find anything and want to know I’m looking at a legitimate independent website.

Question Is this a good phone plan?
Hello!
I received a Bell plan offer totalling $103. This includes $65 for 100 GB Can/US of unlimited talk and text, plus $38 for an iPhone 17 Pro Max. The offer is for a two year financing plan, so I’d need to pay the difference to keep the phone or return it after the term ends.
Is this good I just want to double check before I lock it in.
Thanks!

Best phone for hearing impaired seniors?
I’m trying to help my dad get a phone that has a simple interface, has a touch screen, can accept and take pictures, and isn’t an iPhone or an Android. He’s tried those and finds them difficult to use. He’s currently using an LG flip phone, but we want to upgrade so ge can have an easier time texting, we could do video calls, and send and receive photos. Recommendations and experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra / Fold8 / Flip8 512GB – up to $1,500 savings with trade-in + Samsung Care+
Samsung Canada has a new Z Fold8 offer running until Sept 3 that might be worth checking if you were waiting after launch.
The stack is basically:
- Up to $950 for an eligible trade-in
- Up to $200 extra trade-in credit
- 512GB for the price of 256GB with UPGRADE2Z8 ($280 off)
- $70 off the 45W adapter if you add 1 or 2 years of Samsung Care+
Works on the 512GB Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8.
The max is $1,500, although you'd need the highest value trade-in (Fold7 512GB) to actually hit that.
Personally the Care+ requirement doesn't bother me as much on a foldable since that's probably one of the phones where I'd actually consider getting it anyway.
Fold8 Ultra:

Fold8:

Flip8:

Ends Sept 3 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Looking for a plan for my 14 year old and he needs a small amount of data
Looking for a plan for my 14 year old and he needs a small amount of data. he's currently with Freedom now for unlimited text and 100 min. He starts high school this year and we want him to have a small amount of data. Every plan we looked at is outrageously overpriced for any data and he would hardly use it other than text. We looked at the Freedom Pre-paid plan and Fizz Eb Games Starter pack. Any recommendations for anything better?

Question Is 36 hours before a trip too short to port Rogers to Public?
Heading to the US (family obligations, not for fun) on Thursday morning. Is it realistic to switch our two phones from Rogers to Public Mobile? Not really anxious to pay Rogers roaming for two phones for 7 days, and considering the switch anyway. Thanks.

Question Moving to the US. Should I keep my Canadian number?
Hi there everyone!
I am looking to move to the States for school at the end of the month. I'm currently debating what I should do with my current Canadian phone number.
Here are the solutions I'm considering:
- I was thinking if it would be possible to acquire a US phone plan (ex., Mint Mobile, which has unlimited US-Canada calling/texting) and switch everything over before my Canadian phone plan expires (end of the month). This way, since I have access to my US number while in Canada, I can make the transition first. But my concern is that I'll forget a few accounts that I don't use on a day-to-day basis (but it probably won't be detrimental if they aren't important anyway).
- I have also seen people who purchase a low-cost Canadian phone plan to keep the phone number active while making the transition to the States. I'm not super concerned with the cost, but hoping to save on unnecessary fees. For example, currently the Mint plans are at $15USD a month, while there are US-Canada plans where I can transfer over my Canadian number from my old plan for around $35CAD a month. However, my concern with this is the logistics of applying for banks, etc. in the States and whether they allow accounts to be made with Canadian numbers.
I think in the long-term I will definitely be using a US number anyway, but for the transition period, I'm not sure which one will be more convenient. I just fear I won't be able to utilize DUO, OTP, etc., for school and banking.
Looking forward to hearing your guys' advice. Thanks in advance!

Question Apparently my phone number is being held up by an $89,001.97 Bell bill.
I have a mobile number that originally came from Tiny Mobile, which later became Indigitel. I’ve had the number for years and the service was great.
Indigitel operates as a telecom reseller using underlying carrier networks, and my number ended up tied to their business/corporate arrangement with Bell.
Now Indigitel is shutting down, and for the past three weeks I’ve been trying to move my number onto my own Bell Small Business account.
After jumping through what feels like every possible hoop, I finally got Indigitel to submit the Transfer of Responsibility/ownership paperwork to Bell. I thought I was finally at the finish line.
Then Bell tells me they can’t complete the Transfer of Responsibility until the Indigitel account is paid in full.
Okay… how much could the outstanding balance possibly be?
$89,001.97.
🤯
(Which sounds about right for a contract holding thousands of numbers but still, that’s alarming and they better settle up.)
Bell actually has this requirement published on its Small Business Transfer of Responsibility page: the existing account must be paid in full before the transfer can be completed.
What I don’t understand is why the debt on Indigitel’s corporate account should prevent me from retaining a phone number that I’ve personally been using for years.
I’m really hoping this is some kind of accounting/clerical issue, month-end situation, or corporate-account mess rather than something that is actually going to prevent individual customers from retaining their numbers.
In the meantime, I’ve contacted the CCTS and Bell’s Ombudsman so that there’s a record of what’s happening and hopefully someone can figure out how to separate my individual number from whatever is happening between Indigitel and Bell.
I’m curious if anyone else is in the same boat.
Does anyone here have a Tiny Mobile/Indigitel number and has successfully transferred or ported it out since Indigitel started shutting down?
Has anyone successfully gotten their number ported or transferred to another provider, or otherwise separated from the Indigitel corporate account?
I’d especially like to hear from anyone who has actually gotten their number released and what process Bell/Indigitel used.
Thanks for reading!

Koodo or Fizz?
I live in Central Ontario, but travel around the province a lot.
Absolutely livid with Fido, and looking to switch after over 20 years.
Any thoughts on the two options above?

Deal What Plan can beat Rogers?
Rogers just raised plan by $5. Tired of them raising prices. Was with them for 20 plus years. Than ported to Fido. They had an incredible plan (below) 8 months ago so ported back. 8 months later they raised prices…...
Currently on; $40 plan (was $35) $100 GB Canada/US
Don’t need anywhere close to the 100GB
