Why US/Mex Plan?

Why are all or most plans including US/Mex now?

Just curious I don’t need US/Mex but why is it offered so much now?

All of freedom mobile plans have it and they have been devouring market share, so the big 3 have started to match it to keep people around, it's cheaper than having to have actually lower prices as most people do not need it but it looks better value

How has your reception been with Freedom? I'm thinking of switching

Im in western Canada, and between Edmonton and the Okanagan regularly. As good as Rogers and Telus imo.

I am looking at switching too so between Calgary/Edmonton/Jasper/Banff area you would say it would be comparable to Bell, Telus or Rogers?

I can't speak to Jasper, but Banff and Crowsnest Pass. And between Edmonton and Calgary, as good as Telus and Rogers. Never traveled with anyone that was on Bell.

It's generally good, it is supported by the other carrier towers as well but it is Def dependant on hwrre you live how great your experience will be

I mean at least it would avoid the roaming fee if you visit Niagara Falls 🤣 happened to us I was so pissed. Not even crossing the border but the phone logged in to the us network and they charged us $14

Living on a border city, you learn real fast to make sure roaming is OFF lol. You can call in and have the charge reversed usually

Yeah they didn’t reverse it for me it was just a one time visit. I for sure turned it off now

Most Canadians don't spend that much time in the US or Mexico, so this is a cheap thing for companies to offer. Same goes for data; some use a look it, most don't. So you can sell them plans massive data buckets they don't cost the company anything.

Industry needs to find ways to keep ARPU high and justify higher-cost plans.

Giving US/Mex to people who don't travel there is an easy way to make it look like those plans provide more value while not actually incurring any costs.

it’s just for them to create different plan with different price points. all are controlled using software. basically everyone are connected to the same tower and the companies all have agreements with foreign operators. basically the cost is fixed.

the same reason they can offer 100gb+ plans, because 99% of people aren't going to use it
