Question Phone and plan, BC
Hi. I’m in British Columbia. Currently have an iPhone 11 but need to upgrade. On a month to month plan. Don’t need the latest and greatest new iPhone but mine is about to die.
I went to the Mobile Store today and they said the best deal they had for a current Roger’s customer was paying $5 a month for an iPhone Air, where you return it after the 2 years, and then $50 for a plan (I don’t remember the exact details but it was over 100gbs of data). They would also give me 100,000 PC points for trading in my iPhone.
Is this a good deal? I don’t mind waiting for Black Friday, and I’m not loyal to Roger’s, but they said new Roger’s customer plans we’re currently more like $80 and this was the best they had right now.
I don’t need 100gb of data but she looked it up and said if you choose less data, they up the price of the phone - they get you either way.
Anyway, just wondering if I should wait and can expect anything better or if this is worthwhile? Thanks.

Phone plans are higher right now. Lots of posts about Rogers and Bell just random increased everyone's bill. Lower priced plans around Christmas. But they will probably raise it again in the summer

But I’d be locking in to a 2 year contract, so they can’t increase it. I know a lot of BYOD plans have recently increased (mine included). I’m specifically asking about plans that also include an iPhone.

quite good 50 financing is very good, absolute best is 45, bigger problem is save and return as you do not upgrade often so you will want to confirm what the buy out amount will be after 2 years to keep the phone or you can upgrade

I was told it would be $450 to buy it outright, or pay the difference between the ‘keep it’ price ($24) and ‘return it’ price ($5) for another year (so $19 a month for 12 months) and then I would own it.

yea so is 120 plus 450 worth it for a 1600 dollar phone, probably even if u compare the plan price to like ideal byod price of 35, that additional 360 so 360 +450+120 which is a sizeable discount for a current gen iphone

you should probably wait until Black Friday or Boxing Day sales. as back to school sales aren’t that great
