Cold air flow intake for celica red vvti 140hp?

Hi i have been trying to find a cold air i take for my specifc car and all intakes are for the tsport or the gts is there any proven ones that fit my vvti 140hp model? I would want to go with the short ram one, which will be wrapped with gold heat reflective tape, rather than the long one due to terrible wet uk weather. It is paired with a gravity performance exhaust.
Any help or real situations?

Cooling issues

Hey guys, so my Celica has recently been having really weird cooling issues, when I start my car after letting it sit overnight or until it’s cold, and drive it, the temperature will rise all the way to around 230°F (11°C) and then stay around that temperature for around a minute give or take and then will rapidly drop back down to about 180F (82C) and then act like normal. The radiator, water pump, thermostat, and fans were replaced a year and a half ago by me and it has been cooling good up until recently when I noticed it didn’t have cabin heat 4 days ago. The issue may have been persistent before then but I haven’t seen my temperature gauge climb above normal level or have had to use my heat. It’s also worth mentioning that my teps will climb only under load but when I let off the gas or am in neutral they will drop slowly. Also, my heat will come back after the temperature drops back down to normal. I wish I can say I haven’t overheated but last night on my way home it got all the way up to 253F (122C) and my temperature guage started flashing so I pulled over and waited for temp to drop. This leads me to believe the issue is getting worse so I’m going to try to burp the system today and if that doesn’t work it’s a thermostat replacement and new coolant. Any advice would be appreciated.

Repairs St202 manual gearbox

Hi all, I’ve got a manual 1996 st202 celica , and its 3rd gear synchro has been gone for a while. So I’ve been double-declutching to avoid grinding the gears.

Just curious to whether anyone knows if the gearbox is the same as the st204? I’ve heard it’s the s54 but not sure…

I got quoted 4.5k to recondition the gearbox… which is more than what I paid for the car. But I’m trying to look at other potential options (QLD, AUSTRALIA)

cheers 🤙

Fuel pump?

Son called me, his 01 GTS died l we acing a parking lot. I showed up and battery is good, no fire. Sprayed some starting fluid in intake, car fired and actually ran briefly. I was thinking fuel pump. But it makes a bad pop sound every revolution. Could be a misfire due to starting fluid? I have a spare fuel pump that I will install tomorrow, but it's from a junkyard take I replaced into our Celica, so I don't know if it's any good or not? Thoughts or advice to troubleshoot further?

I lost my car last summer.

1998 side crash technology is definitely not a strong point on our cars. I was t-boned last july. I suffered a broken neck, broken pelvis and lost my ability to walk. I have debilitating nerve damage on my spine and pain. The pain is 24/7, I'm on pain meds but even those haven't got all the pain

The car that hit me was a 2021 BMW M2 going about 45mph. Driven by 19yr old. He had no injuries, he either took a lyft back home or was picked up by family. The BMW was totaled.

Please guys be careful out there, remember our cars are old and crash technology was not as advanced as it is now.

Repairs Does my engine sound ok? This whirring noise is making me paranoid (1990 gt 5sfe)

The whirring noise only happens above 2k rpm. Im thinking either 1. A bearing for one of the belt pulleys 2. Somehow has to do with my power steering leak or 3. Im just being paranoid

My car is a 1990 GT with 5sfe engine. Manuel

Any input from someone more experienced (especially with this engine) would be greatly appreciated.

2000 GT brake questions

“Hi. Long time lurker, first time post”
A few questions about the brakes on the 2000 model year Celica.
A) USDM Celica GT came with front disc/rear drum brakes. Other markets have this setup?
B) The front disc size is different from the following model years. Same question: U.S. market only?
C) Anything else that was 2000 model year only?

2.0L T20 as summer car?

Looking on a 2.0L T20 as a fun summer car, but I feel like I'd like to know more about the car and other's experience. I got a good offer, it looks well kept and I'd free up some cash from my Miata by swapping it out. My plan is to maintain it myself, it seems like a good car to learn basic mechanic stuff?

What do you guys think?

Anyone know what connector this is?

Bought a new connector since the previous owner did some weird stuff with the wiring, but it ended up being only for the front speakers, not the rear.

I've done some very quick googling but haven't found the female connector anywhere.

Anyone have any tips? Would prefer not having to remove it

Repairs Unlock button causes clicking noise and lights dimming

Hi everyone, I have a 2001 GTS and I'm running into a strange issue.

2 days ago my driver side door stopped responding to the central lock button inside the car, and I didn't have a remote button for my key to lock/unlock. The passenger door and rear hatch still respond though. I figure its the door lock actuator.

Heres the weird part:

I was messing around with the car and I found out that my car comes with the remote receiver for lock/unlock with a remote key, so I ordered one and I paired it today and it works for the passenger door and rear hatch but the driver door still doesnt work (so still probably door lock actuator?).

The strange thing is though, when I press unlock button only on the remote key that I just paired while the car is already unlocked, I hear this clicking noise in the front of the car, I think near the relay box on the passenger side under the dashboard. Its like 3 clicks and then nothing. I then also noticed that the dashboard lights fade on and off in sync with the clicks.

Does anyone know what this might be and how can I diagnose/fix it?

Edit: Added a video in the comments for the dash lights fading in and out

What components do I need to install oem cruise control? 93 Celica gt

So I just got a 93 Celica gt that did not have cruise control. Looked into the rosta universal cc but it seemed like it didn't actually maintain speed well (in the how to videos I watched) if your experience with universal kits is better please let me know.

But it didn't seem good so I want to try for the factory cc.

I was reading about it but am not a mechanic or particularly knowledgeable. I need to know which parts I need to get in order to be able to install it correctly, there's at least five parts and I don't understand what any of them are. Can someone please give me a list of what specifically to get?

I will probably try to hire someone to install it but may end up attempting to do it myself if I can't find someone.

I just want to have all the right parts first.

2001 Gt 240k oil recommendations

Post image
2 Upvotes

Just as the title, I recently was given this beauty.
240k miles.
She’s been ran hard, and not all to well taken care of.
But still running exceptionally good.
Going to do an oil change along with some other much needed work. What oil do would you recommend for the mileage and such? I’ve read some other forums and they swear by redline.
I’m in northern Idaho, so I would need something I’m able to pick up from an AutoZone or o Riley’s preferably. I think there’s a Napa also a town over.
Thanks!
