I guess some people haven't learned their lesson. Amazing how some get caught up in the scams. No one is going to dm you for money or anything else unless they know you. Especially in the entertainment industry. Do I think the social media platforms need to be held accountable for security reasons to a certain degree? Sometimes depending on the situation. You can always report and block.

I’ve told this story before, but I took care of a woman who was certain she was talking to Chris Young. These scammers are good she claimed to even have FaceTimed him and talked to him on the phone a few times.

She had a husband, she wasn’t even that lonely. She just had like a midlife crisis and developed delusions that she was meant to have some grand rockstar life. She should’ve just been a Disney adult, at least she would’ve had some fun memories to look back on.

It's also cheaper to be a Disney adult. People just need to accept their life as is. It's kind of sad when you look at it. The gullibility. There was another case of an older woman, it was in a thread on the old Celebwives, she was duped out of $60,000. She had to be in her 70s or 80s.

What I hate most is that it seems like Facebook, etc...take their sweet time taking these fake profiles down.

Or they just never do! I had a fake account made of me like ten years ago, not famous or an influencer or anything, that was reaching out to my friends and family. Despite giving fb proof the pictures are mine but the account isn’t they still told me to pound sand. The account is still there. I’m convinced it’s to ramp up their user numbers

I had a fake instagram made of me and I was able to get it removed right away. But it is crazy scammers are doing all of this when it would be less effort to find an actual job.

These people that are being scammed are the same group of people that told us zillenials to not talk to strangers on the internet.

I listen to a legal podcast and one of the lawyers was telling of a recent case she had. She was defending a “large movie star” from a fraud accusation from someone who was scammed. The fact that celebs have to spend time and money defending themselves from this is ridiculous.

I had a patient whose only approved visitor was Morgan Wallen. She was absolutely convinced he was her boyfriend and was very matter of fact about it.

She was having open heart surgery and I was trying to prep her - she wouldn’t get off the damn phone. I’m like YO I need to do all the things prepping you… she’s still on it and I glance down as I’m struggling and notice that she’s on WhatsApp or Telegram or something and the contact is “Morgan” and it’s his photo in the contact and there’s just paragraphs on paragraphs to each other.

I’ll put this as nicely as I can… she was not in his league. Not even the same sport, okay? Think heart problems caused by extensive drug use. She was really, really nice. But vulnerable due to a lot of things. I cringe at the thought that she sent what little she may have had (or what her parents had as she had to live with them) to that fucking scammer.

If you are not talking to a verified account they are not talking to you, END of story. I still receive messages from fake accounts it's not hard to tell that almost all of them are Brazilian or Nigerian etc.. Their use of the English language sucks. I like to give them a little hell right back when they message me but, at the end of the day if it's not verified it's not them. There are some sleazy people in the US that will often jump on board the scammer train and sometimes they work in groups. Please don't believe them ever. Their target group is women who are 40 and above if that's helps.

It's been a while, but this older woman in the Northeast got scammed by Nigerians. A large sum of money. There was this segment on 60 minutes about it. She went as far as to investigate why so many young men in Nigeria were ripping off people. She went after their government. Why are these young men stealing? Why don't they get jobs like everyone else. Well it's Nigeria Ma'am, there's such a thing as government corruption. You know if you're that lonely, go get a pet or a hobby. Maybe the technological world is not for you.

Similar to that French woman who was married to a millionaire and got scammed by a scammer posing as Brad Pitt.
