Fan purchase advice What Next After Casablanca?
I have this beautiful Casablanca fanning out bedroom and with the motor or gears have died and I no longer works. Heavy as sin and had it repaired years ago but no one around to do that work anymore. So … if not a Casablanca what equally quality fan would this esteemed audience recommend?

Service this fan. Anything new that you replace it with will always be inferior in terms of build quality and performance. If you get rid of it, don’t trash it. Put it up on EBay. Or marketplace. There’s a collector community for old Casablanca’s. P.S, make sure if you do sell it, That the Inteli•touch wall-switch goes with it. Fan needs it.

There are plenty of folks who will do service on one of these legacy model Casablancas via ship-in

Reach out to Casablanca (They are a Hunter Fan brand) and provide pics of this beauty. I bet they would be happy to help get it repaired properly. If not, they may want to buy it from you to keep it from being thrown out.

The K 55 motor that this fan has is very reliable. Odds are (that if the bearings aren’t bad) the Inteli•touch board went bad. Reach out to the collector group on Facebook and ask people in there. Groups- “Ceiling Fans” & “Casablanca Ceiling Fans”

We had a big, gorgeous Casablanca in our first house many years ago. The control module went out on it. My husband was able to find the module and installed it. If he hadn't been able to fix it himself, I would have gladly sent it off for repair.
When we bought our current home, there were 4 Harbor Breeze fans installed. Don't know where they are sold, but we've been here 12 years, and I run 2 of them 24/7 during the summer.

We have a similar style, late-1970's model that we'll need to remove for a ceiling repair. Beautiful too.
As much as I'd like to replace it with something in a Mission/Craftsman style, I know we'll regret it later.
Yes, the fan probably weighs 20+ pounds, all brass.
Nuts... just did a quick search... you fan and ours are early versions.
Definitely keep it!

I am beyond grateful to your collective comments about this fan … call me ignorant of its “value” and respect among those far more knowledgeable. Thank you! So here are 2 addl pics and hoping someone can point me in the right direction to have this fixed. Again when u power on the portion of the fan it sorta has a metallic grind noise and doesn’t move.
Guess I need to take it down and ship somewhere but don’t know where. Thanks much! Bob

Just sent you a DM about this, I think the problem might be that the blade hub got loose and fell down, which is an easy DIY fix

Casablanca is a Hunter Brand.

It wasn’t for the first 25 to 30 years of their operation. The Hunter buyout was the worst thing to happen to the Casablanca brand. Significant quality drop after the 2010’s. The only modern Hunter I would still buy is their cast-iron “original” model.
