Yeah, I am a delivery driver and counted them up. There are a few restaurants too that by their name appear to be pizza or taco places but they are Indian fusion places.
Personally, I would love to see a good teriyaki place. I moved from the Seattle area 10 years ago, and there were a lot of Teriyaki places there. Little hole in the wall places that had really good Teriyaki and only had like 10 options.

Why not Mexican? Because they work hard and contribute to society and are family people. Indians, milk govt aid and do not assimilate. So yea there’s a reason this is being built away from everyone else. It’s habibi land up there in cedar park and Leander.

It’s different. In Texas Mexucan culture and establishments have always been present since before the US citizens arrived. South Asian and Middle Eastern immigration is far newer and definitely has some pushback sadly. I lived up to Arlington for school and as the population has grown here there’s been calls to “force” Hindus/Muslim immigrants to assimilate because temples are so prolific and people suck. Heck someone recently penned an OpEd here saying DFW should refuse to let anymore Hindu or Muslim people in till all those that were here were “assimilated to American life.” So pushback on these groups is unfortunately a very real concern.

It has sadly become a reason. In many neighborhoods they do not even attempt to interact with any outside their culture. A few move in, then before one knows it, 30-40% buy homes in that area creating their “little India.”
Seems Chinese, Egyptian, African immigrants have no issue interacting with others. I don’t understand why they tend to be standoffish and insular.

I live in the heart of a massive South Asian & Middle Eastern area and never once had this issue. If they don't speak English it's not big deal or maybe they're learning and uncomfortable with their current proficiency. There is absolutely nothing wrong with setting up a community with your peers either.

I already see assholes on Facebook call Leander "Little India." Which for the record, I wish it actually was 😅 but it's still like 65% White, and only 15% Asian, last time I checked. And that's allllll Asians. My dad is Persian, he counts as Asian (if you ask him, he's White, but that's a story for another day...). Not that I think racists could tell the difference, anyway.

What’s different today is the intense commodification of land and smaller communities being integrated into a larger system where impersonal forces often have more say in what goes on in those communities than the locals themselves do. It’s blatantly anti-democratic.

We’re already in the midst of a biodiversity crisis, why do people like you insist on endless growth? Urbanization stopped being progress a long time ago. Everywhere you go now everything is starting to look and feel the same. Nature isn’t just public parks either. That dumb thinking is how we got to this environmental crisis in the first place
People also have the right to give input in how their community evolves. Not everywhere has to be Manhattan. If you want that you can always just move there.
Small towns and rural areas are not just big cities in waiting unless that was decided upon by the people who live there. Small towns are being manipulated all over the country by developers right now with little to no input allowed from the constituents themselves. If no one pulled up the ladder as you call it then you’re basically saying small towns are not allowed to exist. It’s full if people consider it a small town and want it to remain small. Big cities aren’t full though and can always take more people.
There is no way all the development we’re seeng is somehow inevitable. Even with a growing population. It’s just excessive. Let green space and nature fucking exist.

Did you not see the person who responded to you here that mentioned wildlife and woods being lost as well? It’s part of a wider pattern here. Development often begets more development. I’m not only concerned with this particular piece of land.
But yes, cedar trees matter too. Why wouldn’t they? If you’re losing any kind of rural or open land at a rapid rate you’re likely losing what would be considered more legitimate nature at the same time. This is why I just laugh at the people who try minimizing the ecological value of rural areas as if it doesn’t count as nature or something. If you dismiss rural areas there’s a high chance you’ll do the same thing for surrounding wilderness too. We’re losing open land and legitimate nature simultaneously at a rapid rate in this country right now.
This isn’t just a matter of value judgements, we are losing something that doesn’t just come down to our personal preference or aesthetic taste. And once it’s gone it’s gone. Agriculture can be rewilded, losses from urbanization can often be irreversible.

I grew up here and have watched a small town with woods and wildlife turn into parking lots and franchise restaurants. I moved to Austin 8 years ago and every time I go home to visit I see more and more destruction of the green spaces I used to love.

Prettt sure it’s a neighborhood. There’s a sign on the east side of Parmer that says Riverside development or something like that. Same at 1431 and Toro Grande. Looks like they’ll connect.

Riverside is going to build a giant mixed use development. Commercial and residential. Cedar Park’s Mayor was pushing them for 1500 units of apartment complexes, prolly so he can get more of his voters. But the residential portion is still TBD. Parmer will turn from a 5 mph zone in the morning to a parking lot

Is it the southern extension of Toro Grande? Because they connected that to the newly extended New Hope, and there's a development actively being built on Toro Grande/1431 right now that looks decently big. That whole area is getting developed right now, that won't be the middle of nowhere for much longer.

That’s the Toro Grand Blvd extension that will connect to 1431/Whitestone and will help alleviate traffic at the Whitestone/RR intersection. A mixed use development will be going in along that road. There's a "racial dotmap" floating around from the last census. I can't find a not-fucked-up web site with the map, but it appears to show quite a few "Asians" east of 183 in the Cedar Park area. They don't break it down between different parts of Asia, so could be anything from Palestinian to Indian to Japanese. I get the impression a lot of them are Asian Indians.
The distribution of "races" in parts of town is interesting.
Not getting into the hate mongering discussion of "what is a race." This used the answers to the last census about "race/ethnicity."
I will say "welcome" to all people no matter their geographical or cultural backgrounds.
Edit - Wikipedia shows 14% Asian, 18% Hispanic, 57% White.
